Bio-Dome is a base building product.

Bio-Dome is a base building product that provides a greenhouse space where you can plant up to 16 items indoors. This structure cannot be built inside Freighter bases.

The blueprint can only be obtained via Base Research Terminal inside the Anomaly.

Bio-Dome can be built using a blueprint and the following ingredients:

  • A corridor attached to a bio-dome will allow the full 16 slots to grow plants, even though one of them will be placed under the stairs attaching the corridor to the bio-dome.
  • Bio-Domes should mainly be used for plants that are not compatible with growing outdoors. This will save slots inside your domes for plants that are not outdoors hardy.
  • Fully grown plants can be harvested all at once by interacting with the display panels that are mounted on the ceiling of the Bio-Dome.
  • A Bio-Dome consumes 50kPs of power to operate. As Large Hydroponic Trays require 20kPs to provide four growing slots, therefore Bio-Domes are more efficient for growing.

Fast Harvest Exploit[ | ]

You can save harvesting time on plants using the following exploit:

  • Select a plant that will grow natively, i.e. outdoors in the biome you're in. E.g., Star Bulb on a paradise planet.
  • Make sure you have enough resources to create several hundred of them
  • Create a biodome. Then, dismantle it. You will see an indent in the ground where the biodome was.
  • Sow as many of the plant you selected as will fit within the outline of where the biodome was. Curved lines seem to work well, and you may be able to fit them closer together by walking about to see the line from a different perspective.
  • Build a new biodome right on top of the area where the old one was. Attach power, doors, corridors etc.
  • Enter, and sow something into the 16 available slots. Putting something that won't grow outside may be a good choice.
  • Now, after the growing time you will find the biodome filled with plants. Pressing 'harvest' will harvest all of them.
  • Care - if you dismantle the dome again, you will lose all the plants. Pick them up first if you need to dismantle the dome.

Bugs[ | ]

Bug (2.32): Living Ship: When adding plants to a bio-dome that is on top of another structure, you may experience 'Invalid position' errors. To resolve this, remove any large objects (refiners, terminals) beneath the bio-dome, place your plants, then replace the large objects. Please report this bug here.
