Gas-Giant-General

A typical gas giant.

Gas Giant is one of the Biome varieties.

Summary[]

The surface of Gas Giant biome worlds resemble scorched worlds, and are mostly flat, but can have very tall mountains. There are almost no plants here, and some minerals appear to be crystals. The resources Activated Quartzite and Crystallised Helium are always be found here, and storm crystals are common. There is no biome-specific plant resource on gaseous worlds.

No fauna ever live in this biome, but you can still fish in the limited water here, and Sentinels can survive the heat and pressure.

The gravity here is higher than on regular sized planets, and as such the jetpack cannot be used as effectively. This is the opposite effect as is seen on dead worlds.

Name generation[]

The biome type is indicated in the information panel when the player exits their starship. This is, for gas giants, always Gas Giant.

Conditions[]

  • Hazard protection is always on due to high temperatures. Coolant network upgrades are recommended.
  • Despite these worlds having constant storms, the temperature is always similar to the non-storm temperature on an extreme scorched or volcanic world.
  • These lack of additional temperature increases means that gas giants can be considered to be more habitable than such a world.
  • The ground may self-ignite creating local high danger spots.

Weather[]
