Caesarus's Palace is a player base.
Summary[ | ]
This base has been deleted and no longer exists.
Caesarus's Palace is a player base, located on the planet New Bandera in the HUB9-144 Afimsk system. It can be found in the town of Valentine, the PvP-focused-core of the New Bandera Colony.
Caesarus's Palace was created primarily as a HubCoin Casino, but the games can be played without wagers as well.
The base name is a reference to Caesars Palace, a famous luxury hotel and casino in Las Vegas, and the Caesarus, the largest fauna ever discovered in No Man's Sky. The name was coined by Hub citizen Pachyderm13.
The ByteBeat music featured at this base is "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" theme by Jaymo44, aka TheJasenSensation, from his base which can also be found on this planet.
The original Caesarus's Palace location (this base) closed on March 20th, 2023, primarily due to the architect hitting the construction limit during a higher-priority build. At some point, an update had also broken the logic circuits used for the Dice Simulators and Strider's Journey Roulette. At the time of its closure, the architect was in talks with other Galactic Hub citizens to re-open the location or expand the concept to a series of locations.
Minigame Controls[ | ]
Minigames are the main focus of Caesarus's Palace. The specific details of each minigame can be found below, under the "Minigames" section. With the exception of Shooting Spheres, all minigames share the same primary controls.
The main "power switch" can shut off power to the minigame. Much like real-world technology, this is mostly useful to turn it off then back on if a glitch is encountered. The yellow button works as a "start" button - press it once before you start playing. The red button with a black line works as a "reset" button - press this after each round to reset the display. Finally, a simple red button functions as the main "go" button, enacting the primary function of the minigame (such as producing a dice result or spawning a ball).
Most buttons can also be activated with the Blaze Javelin. Using other weapons to press buttons is not recommended as it may press the button too long, causing glitches.
Layout[ | ]
Caesarus's Palace consists primarily of a front terrace and a large indoor room. Due to the planet's harsh conditions, hostile Sentinels, and occasional player bandits, the front terrace is not a suitable relaxation area and is thus devoid of any decorations. It features only a Short-Range Teleporter which brings you to the interior area of the base. A Galactic Trade Terminal can be found to your right after stepping out of the teleporter.
Minigames[ | ]
Dice Simulators[ | ]
Upon teleporting to the main casino area, the closest minigame will be three Dice Simulators to your left, based on a design by GeckoGT-Aztlan. The first dice simulator, the Gecko Classic, features 6 possible outcomes: 1 through 6. The second dice simulator, the Traveler's Wish, has outcomes of 1 through 3. And finally, the last machine is the Binary Risk Entity, which has outputs of 0 or 1.
These games could be used the same way as any real-world dice. The most simple game is probably Higher / Lower, where to players roll the simulator and see who scores higher as a win. Interloper's Folly involves both players placing an equal bet, and then paying their opponent the wager multiplied by their outcome on the dice simulator - for example, both players wager 300 HubCoins; player A rolls a 2, player B rolls a 6; player A owes 600 HubCoins, player B owes 1,800; player B sends 1,200 HubCoins.
Shooting Spheres[ | ]
Somewhat subtle and easy to overlook, the Shooting Spheres minigame is a long wooden corridor located behind the Dice Simulators. Something of a hybrid between Skeeball and shooting marbles, three downscaled Sphere Creators can be found at the front, in front of a small ramp. Wooden triangles layered throughout the corridor make the landing pattern of the spheres unpredictable, and spheres can also fly out of the top if they're struck with too much force.
Interlopers can spawn one, two, or three of these spheres and shoot them down the corridor with their multitools. The spheres can land in slots with values 1 through 4, but each value can only be registered once - this means three spheres in the 4-point slot would be worth less than one sphere in the 3-point and one sphere in the 2-point. That may sound complex when read in text form, but actually playing the game is fairly intuitive.
The expected way to play this game involves both players spawning the same number of spheres, shooting them, and seeing who scores the higher value as a win. As described under the Dice Simulators section, Interloper's Folly could also be played on Shooting Spheres, as could any other games players can come up with.
Strider's Journey Roulette[ | ]
This roulette is timed to rotate at the same pace as the steps of this planet's native Anastomus (Strider) species as it walks across the scorching sand. After pressing the yellow "start" button, a light will begin rotating around the roulette. From here, there are two ways to play.
For "Classic Roulette," you can either press the main "Go" button in the upper center, which will light up either the Red or the Yellow pill light. The "go" button for Classic Roulette features a pseudo-randomized delay to protect against predictable results.
For "Elimination Roulette," continue to repeatedly press the "start" button, which will eventually light up either the Red or the Yellow pill light depending on which one hits 3 boxes on the roulette first. Note that with Elimination Roulette, the losing light will light up shortly after the winning light, so watch closely!
The two switches on the top of the table, placed on downscaled light floors, exist only as a way for players to signal in-game which color they're betting on. For example, if you pull the Red lever, press the Go button, and the result is Red, you would win. Using these switches for the roulette is entirely optional.
Note that if you encounter a glitch on this minigame, or want to switch from Elimination to Classic mode, you may need to toggle the power switch and then press the reset button. Simply toggling the power switch does not fix all glitches in this minigame.
Cosmic Pachinko 4: Valentine Edition[ | ]
Cosmic Pachinko 4 is the fourth version of the famous Galactic Hub video game "Cosmic Pachinko". Involving slightly more skill and slightly less luck than other minigames in the casino, Cosmic Pachinko 4 features two controls: a power switch and a go button. The go button spawns a downscaled sphere in the glowing circle (Watertight Door) at the top of the pachinko machine, located across the room from the control booth. To play, players must shoot the sphere with any weapon, without leaving the small red Floor Mat below their feet. The sphere then rolls off obstacles to settle at a final score, displayed on the board to the left, as well as lighting up its position.
Players can score 0 through 3. Like the Dice Simulators or Shooting Spheres, these values can be used for any number of wagers, like Higher / Lower or Interloper's Folly.
Features[ | ]
In addition to the minigames listed below, Caesarus's Palace includes a few other basic features. Emergency Heaters are scattered throughout the casino, as the extreme storms sometimes affect players even through the walls and ceiling. Blackjack tables can also be found across from the Dice Simulators, but these are purely aesthetic, for the purpose of photo ops with friends or the friendly jelly gamblers.
On the right side of the building, between the pachinko machine and the roulette, a bar manned by two friendly Wriggling Companion bartenders supplies a variety of goods - whiskey from The Qitanian Empire, United Federation of Travelers-supplied water, Lactic Hub milk and mead, Toxic Swill outer rim moonshine, live and cut NipNip Buds from Haze Valley Farm, liquified Grahgrah, and other select consciousness-altering treats. A Health Station can also be found on the wall here, along with Emergency Heaters on the table.
A large area with tables and booths can be found between the pachinko control/shooting booth and the pachinko machine.
In the back left of the building, between the pachinko machine and dice simulators, a utility room features an Appearance Modifier and ByteBeat controls for the pachinko machine.
A poster near the exit reminds players of the dangers posed by this planet's Sentinels.
