Updated Beyond

Carbon Crystal is a curiosity.

Summary

Carbon Crystal is a curiosity and it is worth 3,600 Units each.

Game description

Hyper-compressed Carbon, this substance's dense nanostructure makes it highly valuable as both an energy source and a technology component.

Synthesised from Condensed Carbon.

Source

Template:PoC-Craft

Carbon Crystal can be refined using a Refiner with the following ingredients:

  • SUBSTANCE.FUEL.1 Carbon x50  +  SUBSTANCE.FUEL.2 Condensed Carbon x50  →  PRODUCT.FUELPROD Carbon Crystal x1  ("Carbon Crystallisation", 120 sec./unit output)
  • SUBSTANCE.FUEL.1 Carbon x40  +  SUBSTANCE.FUEL.2 Condensed Carbon x40  +  SUBSTANCE.ROCKETSUB Tritium x50  →  PRODUCT.FUELPROD Carbon Crystal x1  ("Carbon Crystallisation", 200 sec./unit output)

It can also be found in Floating Crystals and Curious Deposits.

Loopholes

Once the player has Portable Refiner and Medium Refiner/Large Refiner, they can produce Carbon and Condensed Carbon for free.

This recipe also works with a Portable Refiner only (at a loss of some condensed carbon used as fuel, lowering the overall yield/cycle), hence it can be used in the field.

  1. Refine 100 Carbon in Medium Refiner/Large Refiner to produce 50 Condensed Carbon.
  2. Place down the Portable Refiner and recharge its Fuel Inverter with the 50 Condensed Carbon.
  3. Pick up the Portable Refiner to receive 150 Carbon.
  4. Repeat steps 1 to 3, to produce 50 Carbon per cycle.

Note: In Survival/Permadeath, recharging the Portable Refiner is done with 36 Condensed Carbon; dismantling it yields 100 Carbon.

Similarly with only the Medium Refiner/Large Refiner, free Carbon and Condensed Carbon may be generated.

  1. Refine 100 Carbon to produce 50 Condensed Carbon.
  2. Refine 50 Condensed Carbon and 50 Carbon to make Carbon Crystal
  3. Refine 1 Carbon Crystal to make 150 Condensed Carbon.
  4. Refine 25 Condensed Carbon to make 50 Carbon
  5. Repeat steps 2 to 4

Use

Carbon Crystal is not used as an ingredient for crafting. Carbon Crystal is not used as an ingredient for refining using a Refiner.
