Cargo Drop boxes are abandoned objects that can be found on planets in No Man's Sky.
Summary[ | ]
There are six types of Cargo Drop boxes that can be found in No Man's Sky. Colors and sizes differ, making them easy to identify. They can be found everywhere on a planet except for caves and underwater. They can also be found scattered inside Abandoned Buildings, or neatly stacked in other rooms within certain Points of Interest that requires an AtlasPass v2.
Cargo Drop (Damaged Container)[ | ]

Damaged Container
This box spawns in groups of 1-2. Once opened, will pop up a GUI with an option to either dismantle or transfer Rusted Metal to the player's inventory, which always comes in a quantity of 50-99. It will then open the box and will give the player a curiosity or consumable. Some of them are required to get a portal location from a monolith.
This can also be built and placed in a base and is known as Crate Fabricator.

This cargo box is round and yellow, which can only spawn once per group. Opening it will give a random item from its loot table, but it also have an 8% chance of being empty. Effective for refueling Multi-tool equipment.

Cargo Drop
This cargo box is square and yellow, which can only spawn once per group. Opening it will give a random item from its loot table, but it also have a 16% chance of being empty. Effective for refueling Hazard Protection technology.

This cargo box is the smallest that can spawn in groups of 2-5 and can come in two colors: red is more common, while yellow is rare. Effective for Multi-tool equipment.

Barrel type Cargo Drop
This cargo box is shaped like a barrel, tall, a dark shade of red. It can spawn in groups of 1-2. It requires an AtlasPass v1 to open. This can also be built and placed in a base and is known as Barrel Fabricator.

Health Restorative box
This cargo box is square and white and can spawn in groups of 1-2. Once opened, it will restore the player's health. Useful on Extreme hazard planets.

- It is possible to destroy these boxes with Plasma Launcher or Terrain Manipulator.
- They can spawn in cave openings, but not in caves themselves or underwater.
