Community Research (week 4) is a mission.

Summary

Community Research (week 4) is the fourth mission introduced as Community Research and its purpose is to help Specialist Polo locate the current position of a new anomaly.

This is a time-limited mission and it was available for 7 days, starting from NEXT 1.61 until 4 October 2018. The first part of the mission takes place on a moon called Etch VIII in the Oitsaha-Gloo IV system, located in the Malski Fringe region.

WARNING: It makes use of portal travel. Please do not forget to go back through the portal when you finished, or you will encounter Portal Interference messages.

Walkthrough

Make contact with the Space Anomaly

With this mission set as the active mission, fly into space and Polo will contact the player through the communicator.

Visit the marked planet

A portal will be marked in the system where the player currently located. Due to it is a mission-related travel, the Portal Terminal will not require any recharge. 

The portal yawns before me.
These ancient structures link worlds and galaxies - how much further does their reach extend, I wonder? Polo's hopes are pinned on the signals from this latest destination. But where are they leading us...

Acquire transmission data for Polo

After arriving to the other side of the portal, the mission objective will be updated showing the MISSION.COMMUNITY icon for Boundary Failures.

The player needs to decipher the clues in the signal and re-align the repeater to the correct source.

Collect the Data Packet

The mission objective will be updated as the signal repeater has cached its data in a secure module aboard the abandoned space station.

The player needs to interact with the Galactic Trade Terminal.

I have downloaded a copy of what appears to be a set of coordinates for the source of the broadcast. I should provide Polo with a copy as soon as possible.

All coordinates will be given, when each of the Emergency Repeater Signals were correctly aligned. If not, an incomplete sequence will be provided.

The player can answer with Leave and the mission will still be updated, making the above part an optional.

Make contact with the Space Anomaly

The player will be contacted again through the communicator, after using the starship's scanner.

Specialist Polo

Polo gasps audibly. The reality of the message overwhelms them, as if they were not prepared for this to be more than a wild hope.
They compose themselves and ask if I might continue to look for signs of this messenger while they perform a deeper analysis.

Visit Polo's robotic companion

The Space Anomaly will warp into the player's current system, allowing it to be boarded it.

The door behind the Control Panel is accessible, where Quicksilver Synthesis Companion resides.

After speaking with the merchant NPC the mission objective will be updated.

(Optional) Locate additional Boundary Failures

The broadcast is amplified and the signal zone extended throughout the galaxy, allowing to interact with Boundary Failures on any planets with exotic biome.

The player could visit other planets, but it is advsied to return to Etch VIII, as plenty of Boundary Failures can be found.

Although it could take some time to locate these, as there is no icon indicating them in this part of the mission. Now they display the same message upon interaction.

After interacting with 6 Boundary Failures, the research data limit is reached and the mission objective will be updated.

Return to space and contact Polo again by using the starship's scanner.
