Cooking is a process of combining ingredients.
Summary
Cooking is a process of combining various ingredients, Raw Ingredients, and/or Harvested Agricultural Substances into consumable type products with the use of a Nutrient Processor.
Food products can be used as bait for fauna, consumed for various bonuses, or presented to Iteration Cronus for nanite rewards.

Additional information
Cooking can be a good way to farm Nanite Clusters. However, if you just want to record a specific product into your catalogue without having to cook it, all you need to do is arrange the necessary ingredients in the Nutrient Processor such that they are at a certain ratio and one step away. Once you have the desired final ingredient display in your output box, it will be recorded without any pop-ups or sound effects.
