Currency is a game reference page.
Summary[ | ]
The main currencies in the game are Units, Nanites and Quicksilver. Each has specific uses and benefits.
Units[ | ]
Units are the primary currency in No Man's Sky.
Units can be used to purchase new starships, freighters and frigates from aliens; resources and products from the Galactic Trade Terminals; exosuit and multi-tool upgrades; and occasionally in interactions with aliens.
Nanites[ | ]
Nanites are both a secondary currency and a resource, otherwise known as Nanite Clusters.
They can be used to:
- purchase blueprints and Upgrade Modules
- upgrade starships and multi-tools to higher class
- payment to Travellers for information including the location of Traveller Graves.
Quicksilver[ | ]
Quicksilver is earned through performing various Space Anomaly missions, or occasionally found in Derelict Freighters.
It can then be spent at the shop of the Quicksilver Synthesis Companion, who resides in the Space Anomaly.
Tainted Metal[ | ]
Tainted Metal, while not an actual currency, can be exchanged for goods at the Scrap Dealer. It is used to buy illegal black-market items and can be refined into Nanites, another currency.
Factory Override Unit[ | ]
Factory Override Unit, not an actual currency, it is used to get Product Blueprints when the Traveller successfully solves the puzzle in some Manufacturing Facilities and Operations Centers.
