Damaged Component is a technology that suffered external or internal damage that prevents it from working properly, but it can still be repaired.
It can be found at various Points of Interest and fixing it allows access to the previously prevented function. In case of the Multi-tool and the starship, the repair restores functionality to the slot where the Damaged Component used to be.

At an Ancient Ruin the content of the Large Artifact Crate is protected by three Ancient Locks.

Points of Interest[edit | edit source]
Points of interest have randomly chosen damaged components. Encounters including a pod or container will have one damaged component, in other cases where terminal usage required, will have three damaged components.
The following coding used in the table below:
- 1 - Crashed Freighter
- 2 - Damaged Machinery
- 3 - Manufacturing Facility
- 4 - Observatory
- 5 - Remembrance Terminal
- 6 - Transmission Tower
Sealed Sea Chest[edit | edit source]
At a Submerged Ruins accessing the content of the Sealed Sea Chest is prevented by two damaged components.

Starship[edit | edit source]
Starship subsystem is critically damaged and the slot cannot be used for storage or technology until damage is repaired. If the player plans to trade in a starship, the repair costs should be considered versus the increase in trade-in value.
