Exploration Guide is a Location Information Register from the in-game guide.

Summary[]

This screen appears on the in-game guide, under the LOG tab. It will appear when the user selects the Exploration Guide under Secondary Missions on the left hand side of the display.

This page comes in two different format, depending on the location of a traveller when it is accessed - a star system information guide, or a planet/moon information guide.

Exploration Guide - Star System[]

This screen will display when the Exploration Guide is accessed while

The guide displayed will contain the following information:

  • Stellar class useful for knowing the star colour
  • Age of the star system. Note: All star systems in a given region are the same age
  • Stellar Region name. Note: Phantom stars in a glitched region will display as ???????.
  • Planets Discovered: A count of planets AND moons discovered out of the total in the system
  • Dominant lifeform
  • Conflict Level
  • Economy: the Economy Type and the economic wealth level
  • A note to remind travellers that the wealth of a system influences how many goods they have available to sell. High-wealth systems are also more likely to have high-quality starships. High-conflict systems carry a risk of greater pirate interference.

Exploration Guide - Planet/Moon[]

This screen will display when the Exploration Guide is accessed while

  • In a starship in the lower atmosphere of a planet/moon
  • On the surface or in a building on the surface of a planet/moon
  • Under the surface of a planet/moon
  • Underwater on a planet/moon

The guide displayed will contain the following information:

  • Name of planet and the planet's description label related to its biome
  • Creatures discovered progress indicator: X out of total number of creatures on the planet/moon
  • Flora documented progress indicator: X out of total number of flora on the planet/moon
  • Minerals documented progress indicator: X out of total number of minerals on the planet/moon
  • Weather
  • Atmosphere: Composition of atmosphere in terms of % for a primary and secondary gas, followed by the phrase Trace Others (See list below)
  • Primary Core Element: (See list below)
  • Geology: (See list below)
  • Other Notes: (See list below)
