Deep-Level Mineral Deposit is a planet location.

Summary[ | ]

A Deep-Level Mineral Deposit is a Hotspot location on a planet that is a prime location for Base building. You must install a Survey Device in your Analysis Visor and enable Surveying Mode to find hotspots on planets.

The extraction rate depends on whether the spot is C, B, A, or S class. The farther away from the hotspot, the less is harvested. Hotspots will not actually lose potential the more they are harvested.

Deep-Level Mineral Deposit Hotspots are valuable for anybody who builds a base.

Class[ | ]

There are four classes of this hotspot as noted below:

Class Max Density Max Output
C 40% 250/hr
B 60% 375/hr
A 80% 500/hr
S 100% 625/hr

Collection of Minerals[ | ]

Deep-Level Mineral Deposit hotspots are useful for those who want to make money crafting high-tech materials that require minerals

Place a Mineral Extractor on this hotspot and power it to extract large amounts of mineral of the type found. Mineral Extractors need 50kPs power each to operate, but their advantage is that they only need power, you don't have to keep coming back to refuel it like the Autonomous Mining Unit. If you select a location which has both an Electromagnetic Power Hotspot and a Deep-Level Mineral Deposit Hotspot nearby, then the collection process can be completely automated.

Within a mineral hotspot, you can place as many mineral Extractors as you like, subject only to base complexity limits. The farther away from the hotspot, the fewer units per cycle will be collected. Also note that it is possible to stack extractors vertically on top of each other to create extractor towers on the highest yield point of the deposit. However, in Origins adding more extractors linked together decreases their output significantly, e.g. for S-level hotspot observed extraction rates dropped to 247/hr for 16 extractors and to 105/hr for 56 extractors which effectively limits practical extraction rates for a hotspot to ~5-6k/hr. The way to overcome this is building multiple strings of no more than 4 extractors connected to separate depot clusters. With this setup the yield drops to only ~585/hr. An example of such setup is 1-InExCor Ugining:Eycitis-MS AI base.

Types of Minerals Available[ | ]

The following types of minerals have been directly observed near hotspots:

System[ | ]

Biome[ | ]

Notes:

  • The mineral hot-spot resources match the planet's available resources.
  • There are at least 16 hotpots available within 1050u from any location, which will include at least one of Power, Oxygen, Compressed Gas, Random Mineral, and an element specific to the system and the biome.
