Freighter Hyperdrive is a a freighter propulsion method.

Summary

Freighter Hyperdrive is the freighter's lightspeed propulsion drive to aid players travel across galaxies. It has a base range of 100 light-years.

By default, each warp between systems consumes 20% of the hyperdrive's fuel supply. A freighter hyperdrive is fully charged with 5 Warp Cells or one Warp Hypercore. Installing hyperdrive upgrade modules found in Derelict Freighters will increase a range and may reduce fuel consumption just like in a regular Starship.

Game description

FTL propulsion drive that allows starship to attain warp speed and jump between neighbouring systems.

Charge equipment with Warp Cell or Warp Hypercore.

Crafting

Freighter Hyperdrive is a pre-installed technology on the freighter.

Freighter Hyperdrive can be repaired using the following ingredients:

• Chromatic Metal ×250  +   Antimatter ×2  +   Antimatter Housing ×2

Freighter Hyperdrive cannot be dismantled.

Refer to Upgrade bonus page for details. At Waypoint, the maximum Freighter range was reduced to ~5,800 ly, Supercharged slots not quite balancing the loss of dual-tab procedural mods.

    • Reality De-threader: +800 ly
  • Amplified Warp Shielding: Red system, +50 ly
    • Chromatic Warp Shielding: Green system, +50 ly
      • Temporal Warp Computer: Blue system, +50 ly

Release history

• Atlas Rises - Added as a technology.
• Beyond - Introduced the upgrade tree.
• Synthesis - Added coloured system upgrades to the upgrade tree, increased base range to 101 ly.
• Desolation - Added Freighter Hyperdrive Upgrade modules, increased maximum hyperdrive bonus to 80%, changed hyperdrive charging requirements, previously required only one Warp Cell.
