The Galactic Hub Geological Surveyors is a research organization.
Summary[ | ]
The Galactic Hub Geological Surveyors is an official research subdivision of the Galactic Hub Project dedicated to exploring, scouting and recording potential colonies and helping with the development of new colonies. Other duties performed by the GHGS include surveying and documenting Star systems, Planets and Moons. Also the discovering and recording of notable geological landforms, or Terrain Archetypes, and geo-hotspots.
Mission[ | ]
The mission of the Galactic Hub Geological Surveyors (GHGS) is to:
- To scout potential colony locations, such as major industrial colony systems and mega colony systems, and help with the development of new colonies via surveys that provide key geo-hotspot locations, helping to provide key locations and resources for builds, and assist with R&D and management of colonies.
- Survey and document star systems, planets and moons. This includes notable geological features, such as: landforms, mega caves, deep oceans, and ocean structures, found within the borders of the Galactic Hub.
- Discover S and A class geo-hotspots within the borders of the Galactic Hub, by using the Analysis Visors upgrade, the Survey Device. Along with gathering the necessary information (coordinates, nearby geo-hotspots, nearby points of interest, etc) for proper documentation on behalf of the Galactic Hub.
- To share such discoveries and documentation with the citizens of the Galactic Hub for their enjoyment and use via the Discord server, NMSGalacticHub on Reddit, Twitter, and whatever other methods the Galactic Hub Council sees fit to implement.
Joining the Galactic Hub Geological Surveyors[ | ]
First, complete the GHGS Volunteer Form.
After filling out the GHGS Volunteer Form, the Galactic Hub Council (particularly the GH Founder 7101334 & the GHGS Chief Geological Officers TPHaze and LtGing) will examine your volunteer application and, if possible, evaluate any other relevant information/skills.
The goal of the application process is to analyze your proficiency in locating and documentation of geo-hotspots and geological features, along with your ability to recognize potential colony locations. Your skills will not weigh heavily on whether or not you are accepted, but will determine what projects you are assigned to.
After an application is processed, applicants will be contacted via discord or reddit.

Naming Discoveries[ | ]
GHGS members will know and properly employ Galactic Hub Naming Guidelines during the course of their exploration. Not all systems are required to be uploaded but it is strongly advised that any system in which a discovery is made be properly named and cataloged.
Hierarchy / Rank System[ | ]
Only the LG, CGO, or LGS may issue promotions. All ranks have certain criteria that must be filled in order to be eligible for promotion. Other factors to be included in promotions include time in service and time in rank.
The GHGS is organized into a hierarchical rank structure as follows:
- Lead Geologist (LG): This rank is reserved for the Director of the Galactic Hub. The Lead Surveyor maintains authority over the GHGS, and has final say over all exploration and research endeavors.
- Chief Geological Officer (CGO): This researcher is the Director and Founder of the GHGS. The Chief Geological Officer is responsible for all geological research matters relating to the Galactic Hub and oversees all GHGS operations. This rank will run the day-to-day operations of the GHGS and serves as the intermediary between the Lead Geologist and the rest of the GHGS.
- Lead Geological Specialist (GS7): This rank can only be appointed by the LG or the CGO. It can only be achieved if someone occupying the rank retires or is removed so as not to overwhelm communication with the CGO. These researchers command an expert level of knowledge of the game’s geology, and possess an ability to create, edit, and maintain any, and all, necessary documentation of hotspots, geological features, and potential colonies. They are authorized to conduct official recruitment activities across various subreddits and social media. These researchers will have authority to direct lower ranks and report and advise directly to the CGO.
- Geological Specialist (GS6): These researchers are highly proficient in independently discovering and recording hotspots, geological features, and potential colonies, and in creating and editing any necessary documentation. It can only be achieved if someone occupying the rank retires or is removed so as not to overwhelm communication with the LGS. They possess at least an intermediate knowledge of the game's geology and may conduct official GHGS research without assistance. Additional duties include instructing lower ranks on the proper identification and documentation of hotspots, geological features, and potential colonies. They report directly to the LGS rank.
- Senior Geological Researcher (GS5): These researchers are highly proficient in independently discovering and classifying hotspots, geological features, and potential colonies. They are also skilled at properly documenting these discoveries without assistance. They possess general knowledge of the game's geology.
- Geological Researcher (GS4): These are researchers who are proficient at properly documenting discoveries independently and are skilled at discovering and classifying hotspots, geological features, and potential colonies for documentation.
- Field Technician (GS3): These are researchers who have documented discoveries but are not yet fully proficient at documentation and who are skilled at discovering and classifying hotspots, geological features, and potential colonies for documentation.
- Geologist (GS2): These are researchers who have just begun documenting discoveries with guidance and are capable of discovering and classifying hotspots, geological features, and potential colonies for documentation.
- Surveyor (GS1): These are recruits who have not yet received training in proper documentation and discovery of hotspots, geological features, and potential colonies.
