Explorer Notes[ | ]
Inuyam-Gran-LU is a system of hidden surprises-- and not all of them good. On its surface, it seems to be a fairly standard large system, with two paradise planets. But one of these is anything but a paradise!
When I flew onto Wubri II, I thought it would be a paradise. Scanners had detected Star Bulb, which only grows on hospitable worlds, and the weather probes had found nothing unusual. As I cruised in, I noted the presence of numerous large, bulbous flora, which was unusual, but not unheard-of.
As I came in, I found floating terrain "islands" suspended in the air, and I chose one of these as a safe landing spot. No sooner had I left my starship, however, before I was nearly knocked on my rear by the ground trembling and an enormous earth serpent flew up through the ground and sailed into the sky.
Now, there have been rumors, of course, of a giant worm species living on the Luminaire Collective homeworld Yumede Beta, but if they are even true, that creature has only been sighted rarely, and is extremely non-aggressive.
Thinking that perhaps I had found the origin planet for the worm, I stayed and scanned various fauna and flora, including their subaquatic species. I realized when I tried sampling a purple egg that this planet held horror upon horror for the unaware explorer, and quickly made a retreat for my ship.
Several larval-form creatures attacked from the ground, and I fought them off in my own self defense. As I looked around, I came to realize that the bulbous native flora formed perfect camouflage for the worms' larval centers, and not only was I in some peril, I was completely surrounded. I left the planet, sad to have been unable to scan more of its creatures this day.
Meanwhile, the nearby lush planet Omulusta is a nicely inhabited with Sentinels only guarding the secured locations, as is their habit.
In deep space, I found evidence of the First Spawn-- did those ancient Gek seed this system with these alien monsters? And one of Helios' own children, floating along-- it sent me a message of fear, and I could not disagree.
