Korvax Prime is a planet mentioned in the lore. It is also the original name of the entity known as "The Abyss", or "the Void Mother".
Summary[ | ]
Korvax Prime is the home world of the Korvax race. It was a world with a "vast and precious landscape of mineral ore and power", as described on a plaque constructed by the Gek.
For many generations, the entities of the Korvax chose to naturally disconnect and become one of the Korvax Echoes, a collection of shared knowledge and experience known as the Convergence. This repository of the memories of their race was housed on Korvax Prime in a neural networking hub. The metallic shells of these Korvax were then reused by newly created Korvax during an endless process of carapace recycling. The Korvax described this process as: "an ever evolving equation that defines us."
The planet itself, which was the core of the first convergence, seem to have had its own sentient mind as a sort of gigantic computer, similar to the Atlas.
Destruction of Korvax Prime[ | ]
During a galactic war between the Vy'keen and the Sentinels, the First Spawn Gek stayed in the background, allowing the two races to batter each other into submission. Once the Sentinels had been pushed to the Outer Edge of the galaxy and became SILENT (i.e., could no longer interfere), the Gek invaded.
Hungry for the resources of this rich planet and its colony worlds, they attacked Korvax Prime and basically destroyed it, along with many of the inhabitants. They shredded the planet into asteroid-sized chunks and harvested the rubble, killing huge numbers of Korvax entities in the process.
The Aftermath[ | ]
As the planet crumbled, the Convergence was destroyed/erased, and with it, the ancient memories of hundreds of millions of departed Korvax. This act of obliteration caused horrific agony across the planet, and became known as The Great Disconnection, which "destroyed all that went before. "
Once the planet ceased to exist, millions of remaining Korvax entities were enslaved in what the Gek referred to as an act of Mercy. As members of the Korvax race died on other planets, their metallic bodies were refused a return to the remaining inhabited Korvax planets for reuse. Instead, they were stripped and melted down to be used by the Gek in their war effort. Though the Korvax have since regained their independence, their original home world is no longer part of the galaxy.
A subsimulation of an artificial star system was saved by Nada from the destruction of Korvax Prime in another universe, and is now housed in the Space Anomaly.
According to Sentinel lore, the First Convergence, the mind of the planet, which was supposed to have been destroyed, actually survived in some form. The entity, now known "The Abyss" (or "The Void Mother" within the lore), is controlling the sentinels with some kind of plan to survive the death of the Atlas. This plan apparently requires that they contaminate the water of the universe with nanites, to change and reshape it and the living beings that live in it.
