Summary[]
Korvaixum Empire - Background page provides historical and cultural references for the Korvaxium Empire from its rise to fall.
History[]
Chapter One- New Beginnings[]
The Midoriy System was discovered by a large group of Korvax fleeing from Sentinels. They Korvax were different from other Korvax. They practiced Korvax Orthodoxy, a more traditional version of the Korvax Religion. Korvax Orthodoxy differed from its modern counterpart as it was not as cultish. It still recognizes the Atlas as the creator of the universe the Korvax live in. It also views each Korvax as a unique independent entity as opposed all entities being connected to the convergence. These were beliefs that were lost to the modern Korvax. They were considered heretics by the modern Korvax. This is also why they were being chased by the sentinels. The bountiful bubble planet, Urringh X acted as a safe haven for these Korvax. Here they founded the city of Korvs. This also was the start of the Republic of Korvs.
The Korvaxium Empire's capital planet, Urringh X
Chapter Two- A New Republic[]
The Republic of Korvs was governed by a council of 10 Korvax, who democratically made decisions for the Republic. The capital city, Korvs began to grow as more and more Korvax migrated there. While it was a democracy, the Republic's council was oligarchic in nature. One member of the council, Jutandar was upset by this as well as the Republic's growth. He believed that the Republic could grow into larger, powerful multicultural empire united under an autocratic government. He and many others devised a plan to overthrow the Republic.
Chapter Three- The Empire Rises[]
Jutandar successfully staged a coup overthrowing the council. This was the birth of the Korvaxium Empire. With this sudden seizure of power, Jutandar became the first Korvaxium Emperor. He renamed the City of Korvs, Korvaxia. Following Jutandar's death, his successor established the first Constitution of the Empire. It established the democratically elected Korvaxium Senate. The Emperor's powers were also limited by the Constitution. both the Emperor and the Senate would be required to work together. Over time, the Korvaxium Empire began annexing systems around them. Many of these systems were smaller nations that were unaffiliated with any major powers. Many joined the Empire, seeking wealth and protection. Eventually the Empire hacked into the Sentinel Pillars in their annexed systems. They made all Sentinels in their controlled systems loyal to their cause.
Chapter Four- Korvaxium Coup[]
The first major war for the empire came during the reign of the 4th emperor. Until then the Korvaxium Empire had only been annexing small states in the Luskijima Anomaly and its surrounding regions. The largest civilization in the Luskijima Anomaly was the Uonkop Confederacy. The Confederacy was made of independent star systems. This meant there was no definitive capital. With the help of the still-growing Garlo Republic, the Confederacy launched a pro-confederacy coup in an attempt to overthrow the Korvaxium Imperial Government. This was to install a friendly democratic government as the two powers feared the Empire's expansionist ambitions and wealth would lead to a collapse in their economy. The coup took place during a governmental senate meeting in the capital. While many senators and citizens were killed, the Korvaxium military defeated the insurgents, arresting many people tied to the Confederacy.
Chapter Five- Korvaxium Civil War[]
The Confederacy was surprised to learn that the coup ultimately failed. They still funded serval republican rebel groups. Days after the failed coup these groups started a rebellion. The rebellion quickly spread in the southern provinces of the Empire. These areas were relatively new to the Empire thus were less cooperative with them. The Second Korvs Republic was declared by the insurgents. Many supporters of Korvaxium opposition parties also joined the rebels. The war did not last long as both the Uonkop Confederacy and Garlo Republic underestimated the power and unity of the Korvaxium Empire. They believed that by supporting the insurgents it would cause the Empire to collapse. It did not as there a massive infighting within the rebels as many groups wanted to join the Confederacy and openly opposed being independent. Because of this, the Rebels were swiftly crushed following the capture of their capital planet.
Chapter Six- Uonkop War[]
The Confederacy knew a war between them and the K.E. was inevitable. Korvaxium intelligence had already knew about their involvement in the Civil War. Soon enough, Korvaxium Empire declared war on the Confederacy, launching a invasion into the Uonkop Cloud. The Empire had a difficult time defeating the Confederacy due to its ability to have multiple interchangeable capitals. The war came to an end after the K.E. captured enough territory to split the U.C. in half. The split in land and loss of contact with other U.C. states caused the U.C. to internally collapse into multiple states. This allowed the Korvaxium Navy to annex all remaining territories, finally ending the war.
Chapter Seven- Garloic Wars[]
The Flag of the now dissolved Garlo Republic
Another Civilization, The Garlo Republic, had been developing in the Luskijima Anomaly. They had seen the Korvaxium Empire devouring the other civilizations in the region and thus stayed neutral. Eventually they lost this neutrality and aided the U.C. in a coup to overthrow the Korvaxium Government. They later supplied the Second Korvs Republic in the Korvaxium Civil War. They also began to destroy the Korvaxium Empire's civilian vessels and supply fleets. Following the defeat of the Uonkop Confederacy, the Empire issued Garlo an ultimatum, demanding major concessions and to stop attacking Korvaxium citizens. The Republic refused, instead declaring war on Korvaxia. Garlo initially saw much success, yet overconfidence and several military blunders led to the K.E. launching a successful counter-offensive that reached into the Republic's territory. The Republic's overconfident generals ordered no troops to surrender. The Empire's forces crushed the Garloic military. Because of the republic's refusal to surrender, its capital system, Garloica Nentro IV (KE) being almost completely obliterated by the Empire. Only two out of the five planets in the system survived the invasion. This showed any hostile Civilizations that The Korvaxium Empire was not to be messed with. This victory secured Korvaxium victory in the Luskijima Anomaly and resulted in a period of great achievement and wealth for the Empire.
Chapter Eight- The Blight Attacks[]
The Empire reached its peak during the Reign of Emperor Gr8argus. He and the emperor before him drew the Empire into a golden age. This golden age of course, was not always peaceful. The Empire wealth and power attracted the attention of the Blight, a multi-galactic crime group. Unlike most galaxies, the Blight faced heavy resistance in Eissentam, including the Korvaxium Empire. Fahngar, a Blight leader, commanded these attacks. The Blight attacks in the Empire were short-lived as the K.E. bombed pirate occupied cities in the war-torn Garloica Nentro IV system. Fahngar was ultimately killed in the bombings, ending the Korvaxium Empire Blight attacks and restoring the peace period. The only remnants of the attacks were left on Garloica Nentro IV, as the system was permanently abandoned by the Empire, with the only remaining inhabitants being convicts and refuges.
Chapter Nine - After Gr8argus’s reign[]
Following Gr8argus's disconnection 7 other Emperors would serve during the Pax Korvaxia. Here they would continue the Empire's reign of power and prosperity. However, issues soon arose. The rise of Dissonant systems during Gr8argus's tenure went unnoticed for years, but their presence would soon grow. Soon, skirmishes would occur between the corrupted sentinels of these worlds and Korvaxium forces. The dissonance, however, was contained to the worlds... for now. Prosperity and peace continued until the reign of the 16th Emperor.
Chapter 10 - War with the Merchants Guild[]
With the Korvaxium Empire, as economically flourishing as it was, the need to regulate trade would become more and more important. Typically, this was overseen by the Merchants Guild, who oversaw galactic trade. However, the Korvaxium Senate had become increasingly distrustful of the Guild. They preferred trade to be regulated by them and only them. They, with the Emperor's support, banned the Guild in its entirety. This move was controversial across the galaxy. The Empire had long been under fire for its autocratic government, and this was the final straw. The Merchants Guild mobilized its forces and garnered a coalition of other guilds, republics, and empires to attack Korvaxia and overthrow the government of Korvaxia.
Chapter 11 - the end of Pax Korvaxia[]
The Merchants Guild attacked the Empire with a fiery force. They pushed into its territory, taking important planets and systems. The Korvaxium Empire, who had been at peace so long, were unprepared. Their army was strong, but lazy. The Coalition pushed to Korvaxia, besieging the city. Many of the powerful Gek conglomerates in the Empire revolted, supporting the Merchants Guild, which was Gek dominant. The Korvaxium Government fell. The senate was in panic. The emperor, however, took charge of the situation, taking full control of both the government and army. The Battle of Urringh X was brutal, scaring the planet forever. In the end, the Merchant Guild's coalition was forced out of the Midoriy system. Once Korvaxia got back on its feet, its army obliterated many of the coalition's forces. With the assault on Korvaxia having failed, the Merchants Guild quickly made peace with Korvaxia. They agreed to pay reparations and stay out of the Empire. The Gek companies that supported the Merchants Guild were purged and nationalized. This would have consequences as the Gek Elite were now soured by the new government of the Korvaxium Empire. The Empire, despite having won, was stuggling, poor, and now no longer the "Eternal Empire of Eissentam" that it was once considered.
Chapter 12 - The Great Decline[]
The Korvaxium Economy struggled. Urringh X was now an ugly, polluted world from the war. Business died with the Merchants Guild or left with the economic collapse. The economy of the Empire was struggling, and the people of the Empire were angry. The dissonant worlds remained a threat. Corrupted Sentinels became more and more common, and the Empire's control over its sentinels was weakening. The Emperor was now an Absolute Monarchy. The Korvaxium Senate was powerless and quickly began to clash with the Emperor. The Gek Elite also proved to be an issue. They were angered with the loss of assets and the removal of free trade with the Merchants Guild. The 16th Emperor had started with the wealthiest Empire of Eissentam and managed to turn it into a backwater autocracy, struggling for its survival.
Chapter 13 - Rise of the Junta[]
With the struggling state of the Empire, several Generals took matters into their own hands. They besieged Korvaxia, bombing the palace, and overthrowing the 16th Emperor. The New Military Junta of the Empire dissolved the senate and established a military dictatorship. They created a Regency council in place of the position of Emperor. However, no new monarch would be selected, and the 16th Emperor would be the Empire's last. Many supporters of the little democracy Korvaxia had fled into the outer reachs of the Empire, taking many of the governments prized possessions with them. The military Junta supported the Gek Elite after receiving funds for the coup from them. They quickly got to work in reversing many of the economic policies that harmed the Gek. These plans however, backfired. The Merchants Guild and other banned trade groups refused to rejoin the Empire's trade paths. They instead sanctioned the Empire, protesting its military-led regime. This continued rise of the dissonance and economic turmoil would prove to be the final straw for the Korvaxium Empire.
Chapter 13 - The Second Korvaxium Civil War[]
The Empire’s downward economic spiral and rising attacks by corrupted sentinels quickly discredited the military junta. Soon factions and conflicts would arise in the military dictatorship. One side supported the Gek Elite, whose economic policies caused the great economic depression, while the other supported a more Korvax-centered regime and a return to the old order. Eventually the two factions' divide would become too great and the anti-Gek faction rose up, starting the Second Korvaxium Civil War. The anti-Gek faction however, failed as the Gek-Elite backed forces were stronger and had more funds due to the wealth held by the Gek. The civil war, while quick, was disastrous for the wellbeing of the Empire and would allow for the final nail in the coffin for it to take place.
Chapter 15 - The Abyss Attacks[]
As the boundaries of reality began to fail, more and more civilizations fell. The Korvaxium Empire would soon join the list. When the stars themselves became dissonant, the Abyss itself attacked the Empire. Corrupted Sentinels rose up across the Empire, attacking it from within. The Sentinels corrupted many non-Orthodox Korvax, turning them on their own. The Korvaxium Empire was thrown into a corner. The Junta lost complete control of the situation, being forced into Midoriy and other surrounding systems. The outer edges of the Empire went dark, falling to the Abyss. The Military Junta quickly organized itself. The Second Siege of Korvaxia commenced. It too was brutal, destroying much of the Midoriy system, once again scaring it forever. The Empire, however, was able to completely force the Abyss out of the Luskijima anomaly and back into the Dissonant star systems. However, many leading members of the Junta were killed in the brutal fighting and 90% of Korvaxium territory was lost. This is when the Gek Elite made their move. They attacked the remaining Junta members and seized control of Korvaxia.
Chapter 16 - The end of the Empire[]
The Gek Elite, now in control of the dying Empire made its final choice. With the Empire now a rump state and in economic ruin, the Gek Elite formed the Gek Council. Here they announced a decision that would rock the Eissentam galaxy. The Korvaxium Empire would be officially dissolved. The "Eternal Empire of Eissentam" was no more. After 16 Emperors, a millennium of peace and two detrimental wars, the Empire that Jutandar fostered in the city of Korvaxia fell. The Gek now were in control of Korvaxia and would leave their mark, renaming the city to Gekova.
The successors of the Empire and Third Korvaxium Civil War[]
The Most Serene Republic of Gekova was established in Gekova by the Gek Council. It controls all territory retaken in the Abyss war. The Republic is a mercantile republic controlled by the Gek. Because of this its trade would grow as it would reopen its doors to the rest of the galactic trade. The Serene Republic, however, is unpopular with the Korvax majority they rule over, due to the Gek Council's oligarchic nature. Many other minor Korvaxium states arose in systems as the Abyss fled. Many of these states, including the Serene Republic have begun fighting amongst each other with many having dreams of retaking all of the Empire's old land. This thus started the Third Korvaxium Civil War, which would eventually see the fall of Gekova and the establishment of the Korvaxium Republic, which considered itself to be the Empire's democratic successor.
Culture[]
Korvax[]
The only visible part of the Korvaxium Empire's Convergence is located in the centre of Korvaxia.
The Korvaxium Empire's population primarily consists of Korvax, but consists of the other races, too. Most Korvax living in the Empire are Orthodox Korvax, meaning they reject many cultish ideas that modern Korvax have about the Atlas instead, taking a more traditional and modest approach to worshipping the deity. They also view each Korvax as its own unique being. Orthodox Korvax also only initiate the "fading process" when necessary and do not reuse the shells of faded Korvax. The Atlas is viewed not only as the creator of the universe, but as a symbol of power. This is why much of the Empire's government buildings and ceremonial attire include depictions of the Atlas. They have their own convergence, located deep underground in the Empire's capital city, Korvaxia. This convergence is seperate from the modern Korvax's one and is where deceased Korvax's records and memories are stored.
Other Races[]
While Korvax are the largest group in the Empire other races have equal rights. This of course means that Gek, Vy'keen, Travellers, and Anomaly all live equally.
Arts and Jobs[]
Korvaxium society is extremely science based. Most if not all Korvax in the Empire pursue science type careers. Most Vy'keen in the Empire serve military-based roles. Trading is another important part of Korvaxium society. Office and trade-type careers are the second most common jobs in the Empire. These jobs are of course more popular in the Empire's cities. Gek and Korvax mainly work these jobs. Many Korvax, Travellers and Anomaly work exploration and construction-based jobs.
Motto[]
Most if not all Korvaxium Citizens live by the motto, "Kuyby live Bokhodimia." This is Korvax for, "Long Live Korvaxia". The phrase essentially means, long live the empire. It is also a motto used by the Korvaxium Military and the Empires's largest political party, Korvaxium Skies.
Beliefs[]
Most Korvaxium citizens believe that the Empire is destined to help the galaxy, both scientifically and economically. Most support the Emperor as well. Because of these strong beliefs, citizens will not hesitate to destroy enemy civilizations that threaten the Empire. In terms of religious beliefs, the Empire's official religion is Korvax Orthodoxy. They do still allow all races of the Empire to freely practice their religion (Under the condition it does not interfere with the government or any other jobs.)
Imperial Flag[]
The flag of the Korvaxium Empire
The Imperial Flag of the Korvaxium Empire is very heavy in symbolism. In the center of the black triangle lies the Empire's coat of arms. It is a double-headed eagle. The eagle is holding a sword in one talon and Urringh X in its other. The sword represents power and conquest, while Urringh X represents discovery and knowledge. The Korvax in the center represents the Korvax race, which founded the Empire. The three triangles above represent the Atlas, who is a deemed a religious figure by many Korvax and Gek. The Atlas is also represented on the right side of the flag. Below it is a spiral, which represents the Eissentam galaxy.
Government[]
The Korvaxium Palace
The Korvaxium Empire's government is a Semi-Constitutional Elective Monarchy. It contains two main entities, the Senate and the Emperor. Power is often shared between the two entities as they are required to work together. Both the Emperor and the Senate govern the nation in Korvaxia. The current Emperor is Korvax-Traveller, Gr8argus.
Korvaxium Senate[]
The Korvaxium Imperial Senate is the main body of the Korvaxium Empire's government. Senators are elected and serve 500-year terms. Senators, unlike the role of Emperor, senators can be any race. The Senate often makes laws and other decisions for the Empire. The Senate on rare occasions also elects the next Emperor. This only occurs if the previous Emperor dies before choosing his successor.
The Emperor[]
The current Emperor, Gr8argus
The Korvaxium Emperor is the head of government and leader of the Empire. He also commands the Imperial Navy. There has been a canonical total of eight Emperors, with the eighth being Gr8argus. The Emperor has to be an Orthodox Korvax. Emperors are usually Province Governors or Province Viceroys before being coronated. An Emperor's successor is either chosen by them or chosen by the senate. Power between the Senate and Emperor are shared but the Emperor often has the final say in the Senates decisions, being able to reject them at will. The Senate still has measures in place in the event of an Emperor that abuses his power. Because Emperors do not disconnect to the convergence, they often rule for thousands of years. Emperors often wear a ceremonial blue and black cape decorated with an Atlas Station. This is to represent the Empire's close ties with the deity.
Provinces[]
The many regions of the Empire are divided into provinces. These provinces are governed by Province Governors and Province Viceroys. Province Governor holds the lawmaking and decision-making role, while Province Viceroys are high ranking generals that protect the province. Viceroys are appointed by the Emperor while Governors are elected by the Senate.

Political Parties.[]
The Korvaxium Senate consists of several political parties. There are only four major parties in the Empire, most with similar beliefs. These include the Korvaxium Progressive Party, The New Way Party, United Geks, and the Empire's largest and most influential party, Korvaxium Skies. Most Senators come from Korvaxium Skies. The party was started by the first Korvaxium Emperor, Jutandar. The party's name is metaphorical for the Empire's vast reach across the stars. Its main beliefs involve creating a multi-ethic Empire that advances in Science, Wealth, and Citizen Safety. The party is extremely supportive of the Emperor and has remained dominant in Korvaxium senate elections, with the parties consistently winning 3/4 of the votes. The Parties main rival is the Progressive Party, which still supports the Emperor but tends to have a more democratic approach to the nation. The New Way Party has a similar motive to Korvaxium Skies, with the two often supporting each other. United Geks tends to favor the Gek and their trading lifestyle.
Armed Forces[]
The Korvaxium Empire's armed forces consist of two main branches, the Imperial Navy, and the Imperial Army. Both branches serve as an attack and defense force for the Empire. The Empire's armed forces strength ranks considerably higher than most civilizations armed forces.

The Empire's Imperial Navy consists of all Freighter fleets in the Empire, both NPC and player owned. The Navy serves as the primary attack and defense force for the Empire. The Korvaxium Empire's official Navy fighter is called the Shield of the Ancients. It is a sleek blue and white vector. The Empire's flagship is the Korvax Enterprise. It serves as the Emperor's personal freighter. It also serves as Midoriy's primary defense fleet. It is currently captained by the Korvax Captain Hilovshilm.
Imperial Army[]
The Shield of the Ancients
The Empire's Imperial Army consists of all ground-based soldiers and sentinels. Imperial Sentinels serve as a peacekeeping force. Their main job is to protect planets and the Empire's resources such as mining equipment or manufacturing facilities. Most Korvaxium Ground Troops are members of the Imperial Navy. They mainly are used in ground-based battles on planets or moons. Many are also stationed in large cities such as Korvaxia.
Troopers[]
While the Korvaxium Empire canonically has a military of two trillion, not all races can be conscripted. Only Korvax and Vy'keen can serve in the Armed Forces (with the only requirement for Korvax being that they do not worship the Atlas as a god). Gek are unable to serve due to their small size. Vy'keen service is mandatory, while Korvax service is optional. These differences are never seen as all troops don the Eye of the Korvax helmet and all blue amour. Troopers serve in the Imperial Army and the Imperial Navy. In the trooper hierarchy, Ground Trooper is the lowest position, while Province Viceroy is the highest position.
[]
The Korvaxium Empire's Naval Officers are all Freighter and Frigate crew. Unlike troopers, Naval Officers can be Gek, Vy'keen, or Korvax. This is because Naval Officers do not directly fight in battle (They only operate freighters and frigates). For this reason, Naval Officers are not directly part of the Armed Forces. In the Naval Hierarchy, bridge operator is the lowest position, while the Imperial Captain is the highest position. The Imperial Captain serves as the captain of The Korvax Enterprise.
