History[]
Chapter One - Korvaxium Exiles[]
The Korvax Enterprise, which served as the base of operations for the majority of the exiles.
Following the dreaded War with the Merchants Guild, the 16th Emperor rallied around his supporters, sidelining the Senate and ruling as an absolute monarch. This of course, saw pushback from the Korvaxium political parties, in particular the Korvaxium Skies and Korvaxium Progressive Party's. The Korvaxium Skies party split, as most supported the absolute monarchy while others supported Senatorial checks and balances. The Progressive Party, who wanted more democratic practices in the Empire was completely against the bloodless coup. The Emperor took harsh action against the opposition, cracking down, arresting enemies, and banning all political parties. Most opponents of the Emperor, if not arrested were sent into exile in the Empires far out systems or out of the Empire entirely. A last stand attempt was made by members of the Progressive Party, who successfully managed to launch a naval mutiny. The mutiny failed, but the exiles escaped with much of the Empire's fleet, including the emperor's personal Freighter, the Korvax Enterprise, as its Captain, Hilovshilm was a Progressive Party member.
Chapter Two - Gr8argus's exile.[]
Gr8argus served as the Korvax governor of the Orpier region of the Korvaxium Empire. He was elected by the Senate due to his descendance from the Emperor Gr8argus, whose carapace he inherited. He was a member of the Korvaxium Skies Party, however opposed the 16th Emperor's seizure of power. As a result of this, he was hunted by Korvaxium forces but escaped into exile. Unlike other opposition, who fled to the Empire's outer edges, Gr8argus went to into exile on a far-off edge of the Euclid Galaxy, on a remote icy world. He left the Orpier province, which quickly collapsed and fell apart after his departure, with its systems having revolted or leaving the Empire's grasp.
Chapter Three - The Abyss War and the Empires Collapse.[]
Gekova, the capital of the Serene Republic.
The Gek Elite-backed Korvaxium Junta that took over following the Second Korvaxium Civil War would still consider the Korvax exiles enemies of the state. They remained in exile, now with others deemed threats as well. This however, would change with the Abyss War. The Korvaxium Empire was thrown into a corner with the Corrupted Sentinels uprising. The Junta lost complete control of the situation, being forced into Midoriy and other surrounding systems. The outer edges of the Empire went dark, falling to the Abyss. The Military Junta quickly organized itself. The Second Siege of Korvaxia commenced. The Empire was able to reorganize and force the Abyss back into dissonant star systems. The war led to many leading members of the Junta being killed in the brutal fighting and 90% of Korvaxium territory was lost. This is when the Gek Elite made their move. They attacked the remaining Junta members and seized control of Korvaxia. They dissolved the Empire, establishing their own mercantile republic in Gekova (formerly Korvaxia), known as the Most Serene Republic of Gekova.
Chapter Four - The Third Korvaxium Civil War (First Phase)[]
Following the declaration of the Serene Republic, numerous states arose out of the former territroy of the Korvaxium Empire. These ranged from warlord nations led by former generals and wannabe emperors to Korvax republics and Vy'keen military states. All began an all-out war for control, as while some wanted to maintain independence, many wanted to consolidate power over all former Korvaxium lands. The primary group of Korvaxium exiles, based aboard the Korvax Enterprise, would occupy the former Orpier region, creating the Orpier Regional Republican Army in its place. They went on the defensive, far away from the major players in the civil war such as the Serene Republic. The first phase of the Third Korvaxium Civil War, however, would come to an end, as the major factions in it would expand and consolidate their regions.
Chapter Five - Gr8argus's Return and the Establishment of the Republic[]
The Republic's capital planet, Rutahan Bikom.
Over the course of the Civil War's early stages, the Orpier Regional Republican Army would expand, conquering several minor states in the Civil War. Their democratic values also encouraged many systems to willingly join them. The leaders of the army, all former exiles, gathered in on the planet, Rutahan Bikom of the Retoura-Igane system with the goal of forming a government. Laying out plans for a grand capital city known as Korvaxianople, they declared the establishment of the Korvaxium Republic. At this time Gr8argus was still in exile but was persuaded to return by the leaders of the young Republic. With his prior experiences as Governer of Orpier, the Korvaxium Parliament elected him as the first President of the Korvaxium Republic. The Parliament of the Republic would lay out their goals for the state, with the main point being restoring order to all former Korvaxium lands, and rule them as the democratic successor to the Korvaxium Empire
Chapter Six - The Third Korvaxium Civil War (Second Phase)[]
The Imperial Flag of the Empire of Nenitre
The Most Serene Republic of Gekova, had managed to hold their ground. Their trade profits had been growing, and the Gek Trading Federation accepted their rule, placing them under their suzerainty. Their decline would begin sharp and fast, however as much of the disgruntled Korvax majority revolted from within, fearing a return to First Spawn style Gek rule. Gekova would lose ground against several of their adversaries in the Civil War, and trade sharply fell as their trading partners condemned their oligarchic nature as well as their handling of the Korvax revolts. Meanwhile, the Korvaxium Republic, now led by Gr8argus would grow in power and influence, with many systems willingly joining or being annexed by them. Far away, another future enemy of the Republic in the Civil War would assert itself. The Empire of Nenitre was founded by Nentrithos, a Korvax Viceroy and former Junta member. Nentrithos established himself in Garloica Nentron IV, recruiting the outlaws of the previously anarchist system to his army. Nentrithos desired to restore the Korvaxium Empire under his rule, using brutal tactics and methods against rival factions in the Civil War. All three major players would enter into conflict in the third and final phase of the Civil War.
Chapter Seven - The Liberation of Korvaxia[]
The Korvaxium Republic soon grew to be the largest faction in the Civil War, with several states willingly joining them, supporting their democratic ideals. Despite inially avoiding engaging Gekova, they soon would be following the Empire of Nenitre's invasion of the Serene Republic. Gekova had been on the verge of collapse and was Nenitre's final step in restoring the Korvaxium Empire. The Republic invaded as well, sparking the Race to Korvaxia. As both powers raced to liberate the city first, the Gek Council of Gekova could do nothing but sit back and watch their rule fall. The Korvaxium Republic, with the support of much of the Korvaxium people, entered Midoriy, liberating the city without a fight. The Gek Elite, seeing the writing on the wall, burned Korvaxia to the ground as the Republic forces occupied it. They knew they could not win and decided to destroy the city as it was what both invaders desired the most. Despite this, Gekova's leadership was captured and the Most Serene Republic of Gekova, signed peace, officially being annexed into the Korvaxium Republic. The war was still far from over, as Nenitre remained in the fighting, now determined to defeat the Republic and recapture Korvaxia from them.
Chapter Eight - The Republic Victorius[]
The Empire of Nenitre continued its invasion despite Gekova's fall. Due to their large military, the Korvaxium Republic's forces were initially pushed back. Despite the setbacks, the Battle of Gurioshib saw Nenitre's attempted push towards Midoriy fail and resulted in the destruction of much of Nenitre's advanced army. Having the support of its people and the Eissentam galaxy, the Korvaxium Republic launched a counterattack, with the goal of occupying Garloica Nentro IV and destroying the Empire. The fighting was harsh, yet due to economic and military aid from other democratic civilizations, Korvaxianople's pressure on Nenitre allowed for a swift destruction of the Empire's remaining forces. Back on Nutoss, Nenitre's capital planet, the outlaws of the system revolted against the government, not wanting Korvaxium rule. Emperor Nentrithos was deposed and captured by the outlaws of Garloica Nentro IV, effectively resulting in the Empire of Nenitre's de-facto collapse. With that, the Korvaxium Republic emerged victorious in the Third Korvaxium Civil War, with all remaining opposition surrendering or being annexed.
Chapter Nine - The Second "Pax Korvaxia"[]
With the conclution of the Civil War, Nentrithos was handed over to Republic forces by the outlaws on the condition they would have nominal independence in Garloica Nentro IV. He would later be given trial and life imprisonment for his actions during the Civil War. With the defeat of Nenitre, the Korvaxium Republic emerged as not only the victor of the Third Korvaxium Civil War, but an economic and military powerhouse of Eissentam. Their democratic rule now extended to nearly all former Korvaxium lands, with their support among their citizens high. Korvaxianople would stay the Republic's capital city, becoming wealthy and being known as the "Jewl of Eissentam." Korvaixa, despite its historical significance to the Korvax of the Republic, would be abandoned due to its damages. Most of its residents would relocate to Korvaxianople, leaving behind a small settlement with few residents. The settlement would come to be known as Ninval's Hole, named after Ninval, the Korvax General who liberated the city from Gek rule. As of now the Republic under the leadership of Gr8argus and the Korvaxium Parliament has entered into a Second "Pax Korvaxia", valuing democracy, science, exploration, and commitment to Korvax culture over old imperial values of war and conquest.
Culture[]
Korvax[]
The Korvaxium Republic's population primarily consists of Korvax, but consists of the other races, too. Most Korvax living in the Republic are Orthodox Korvax, meaning they reject many cultish ideas that modern Korvax have about the Atlas instead, taking a more traditional and modest approach to worshipping the deity. They also view each Korvax as its own unique being. Orthodox Korvax also only initiate the "fading process" when necessary and do not reuse the shells of faded Korvax. The Atlas is viewed not only as the creator of the universe, but as a symbol of power. This is why much of the Republic's government buildings and ceremonial attire include depictions of the Atlas. They have their own Convergence, separate from the modern Korvax's one and it is where deceased Korvax's records and memories are stored.
Other Races[]
While Korvax are the largest group in the Republic other races have equal rights. This of course means that Gek, Vy'keen, Travellers, and Anomaly all have equal representation in the Republic. Gek are the second largest, then followed by Vy'Keen.
Arts and Jobs[]
Korvaxium society is extremely science based. Most if not all Korvax in the Republic pursue science type careers. Most Vy'keen in the Republic serve military-based roles. Trading is another important part of Korvaxium society. Office and trade-type careers are the second most common jobs in the Empire. These jobs are of course more popular in the Republic's cities. Gek and Korvax mainly work these jobs. Many Korvax, Travellers and Anomaly work exploration and construction-based jobs.
Flag[]
The Flag of the Korvaxium Republic
The Flag of the Korvaxium Republic is very heavy in symbolism. In the center of the black triangle lies the Republic's coat of arms. It is a double-headed eagle. The eagle is holding a sword in one talon and Rutahan Bikom in the other. The sword represents order and governance, while Rutahan Bikom represents discovery and knowledge. The Korvax in the center represents the Korvax race, which founded the Republic and Empire before it. The three triangles above represent the Atlas, who is a deemed a religious figure by many Korvax and Gek. The Atlas is also represented on the right side of the flag. Below it is a spiral, which represents the Eissentam galaxy.
