The Lesser Mushroom Beetle (LMB) is a category of fauna.

Truffle1

The fungal symbiote which lacks a stem that defines the LMB, as seen on the F. Gutkapeus species. Appearance can vary slightly.

Summary[]

This creature is a Lesser Mushroom Beetle (LMB), a subset of the Conokinis and Bos fauna genus. This subset is the more common version of the highly sought after Greater Mushroom Beetle.

The Mushroom Beetle subsets were first defined by 7101334, and (unlike the various Genera) is a player-created category, not an actual part of the game code.

A Lesser Mushroom Beetle is defined by the presence of a non-full-fruiting-body fungal symbiote. In other words, the beetle will have a mushroom cap on its back, but will lack a mushroom stem. A beetle with a full mushroom (cap + stem) is known as a Greater Mushroom Beetle (GMB). LMBs, while still rare, are not generally considered as noteworthy as the closely related GMB. However, LMBs over 2m are still especially difficult to find.

It is important to note that the "Lesser" in "Lesser Mushroom Beetle" has nothing to do with the actual size of the animal. It refers strictly to the type of fungal symbiote.

Documented LMBs[]

There have been two different types of mushroom caps observed on LMBs: Bell and Flat cap. These two mushroom cap types were observed and named by GHEC researchers.
