The Merchants Guild is one of six quest givers in No Man's Sky.
Summary[ | ]
The Merchants Guild is one of three quest-giving Guilds released in the Atlas Rises update. Its basic information can be accessed in the user's menu under the Journey tab.
This guild is a collective organisation representing trading companies and individual merchants across the galaxy. They help control and commission work for pilots-for-hire on behalf of their members. The Merchants Guild is naturally dominated by the Gek, but it is not an exclusive club. All lifeforms are welcome under its umbrella, as long as they have the requisite capital reserves.
Standing Ranks[ | ]
Standing ranks for the Merchants Guild are as follows:
- Unknown (0 standing)
- Initiate (3) - Player can now obtain gifts from Guild Envoys representing the Merchants Guild
- Apprentice (8) - Player can now obtain Guild Missions from Guild Envoys representing the Merchants Guild
- Journeyman (14)

Guild actions/quests[ | ]
Once the player has reached Apprentice rank with the Merchants Guild, Guild Envoys which represent this guild will begin to offer special Guild Missions to the player. Guild Missions have objectives and rewards which normally only generate in high-rank Mission Board missions, and successful completion of a Guild Mission raises the player's standing with that guild by 5 points.
While standing with the guild can only be improved by completing its missions, other actions associated with the Merchants Guild include:
- Earning units
- Farming plants
Clients[ | ]
While united on the surface, each client of a guild has its own agenda and their own area of expertise.
A 'Commercial' Family[ | ]
They want to avoid trouble with sentinels and the law and apply scorched earth tactics to hide their business. They might be mafia.
- Lowest Mission: Rank 6
- Known Mission: Raid Depot (Vy'keen)
A 'Gentlemen Spacefarer'[ | ]
They claim moral goals, but when legal avenues fail they don't shy away from breaking and entering into rival facilities to find and uncover illegal activites. Perhaps a philantropist or vigilante?
- Lowest Mission: Rank 7
- Known Mission: Raid Harvester (Korvax)
A worried Trader[ | ]
They wish to boost morale and confidence of the people with visual propaganda, perhaps to increase sales and spending.
- Lowest Mission: Rank 4
- Known Mission: Take Picture (Vy'keen)
An independent Pilot[ | ]
They claim to own the factories being raided and to root out internal corruption in their own group by force. Aren't they "a pilot"? More data needed.
- Lowest Mission: Rank 7
- Known Mission: Raid Harvester (Vy'keen)
Independent Trade Federation[ | ]
Among their members are rather unscrupulous parties. While other factions might avoid angering the sentinels, their members rather see them as a reasonable source for materials, down to salvaging sentinels for parts. This does not stop at previously damaged and destroyed sentinels. They actively pay for their destruction to scrap them later. Further members desire to dine on new and exotic creatures, asking private hunters to take them down. If you got the coin, the federation provides for its members.
- Lowest Mission: Rank 1
- Known Mission: Destroy Sentinels (Gek), Hunt Creatures (Vy'keen)
Merchant Collective[ | ]
They claim moral goals, but when legal avenues fail they don't shy away from breaking and entering into rival facilities to find and uncover illegal activites. If they are misguided or opportunists remains to be seen.
- Lowest Mission: Rank 7
- Known Mission: Raid Harvester (Vy'keen)
Resonator Confederation[ | ]
They create and care about art. They got expensive packages that need protection and care (maybe art).
- Lowest Mission: Rank 4-7
- Known Mission: Take Photo (Vy'keen), Deliver Item (Vy'keen)
The Second Cycle[ | ]
They emphasize that pirates hurt legal AND illegal business and need to be destroyed. This might hint to them being the illegal part. They don't mind brutal solutions.
- Lowest Mission: Rank 2
- Known Mission: Hunt Pirates (Vy'keen)
Unincorporated Free Traders[ | ]
They value saving face and avoid taking responsibility for their actions. They also engage in esoteric practices, like developing perpetuum mobile.
- Lowest Mission: Rank 1
- Known Mission: Collect (Vy'keen)
Additional Information[ | ]
- They are called "TGUILD" in the game files
