Mining Beam Upgrade is a multi-tool upgrade.
Summary[ | ]
Mining Beam Upgrades, contained within Mining Beam Modules, are procedurally generated upgrades granting bonuses to the Multi-tool's Mining Beam.
Upgrade properties[ | ]
Up to three Mining Beam Upgrades can be installed in the inventory of the Multi-tool. Installing four or more upgrades will disable all upgrades of that type until the upgrade count is reduced to three or less.
Mining Beam Upgrades have the following bonuses:
- Mining Speed: increases Mining Beam damage against minerals and flora.
- Heat Dispersion: decreases the rate the Mining Beam generates heat.
- Fuel Efficiency: decreases charge drain rate.
- Overheat Downtime: decreases the cool-down rate of the Mining Beam.1
1 This stat is generally overlooked as the Mining Beam's cool-down can be avoided by quickly resetting the fire button.
The table shows the minimum and maximum values of the bonuses, while the number of bonuses indicates how many are granted randomly for each class.
2 It is possible to receive one without stats.
Crafting[ | ]
Mining Beam Upgrades can only be obtained from opening Mining Beam Modules.
Mining Beam Upgrade can be repaired using the following ingredients:
- Condensed Carbon ×75 + Wiring Loom ×1
Mining Beam Upgrade can be dismantled after construction, returning the following ingredients:
- Mining Beam Upgrade → Condensed Carbon ×75 + Wiring Loom ×1
Installing[ | ]
Upgrade modules follow a static progression. The generation seed is used for all module families at the same time. During module installations it goes up by one. The new module they change into correlates to their order of installation. If the game is reloaded, the exact same pool will be offered to the player, no matter the order they install other modules.
Example: If an S-class module had 200 ly Hyperdrive Range bonus on the third installation no matter in what order the former modules are installed or their class, if the same S-class module is used third again, it will once again be the 200 ly bonus module even if the name changes. Only if used second or fourth the module stat may change.
Name generation[ | ]
The names are procedurally generated with a prefix and a suffix as per the table.
The sequence is taken from the game file.

Additional information[ | ]
- Upgrade bonuses trigger for Mining Beam Upgrades if they are adjacent to Mining Beam, Advanced Mining Laser, Plasma Resonator, or each other, increasing their bonuses above listed values.
- The minimum and maximum property values are extracted from the NMS_REALITY_GCPROCEDURALTECHNOLOGYTABLE.MBIN (1.77) game file, while the name generation is extracted from the NMS_LOC4_ENGLISH.MBIN (1.77) game file.
- X class mods that are better than or the same as S class are extremely rare (the % chance is significantly worse than other X class mods) and getting S class instead is superior in most cases
