Mount Loper is the third colony organized by the Galactic Hub civilization.

Located on the Diplo Winter Resort planet, an extreme cold planet with beautiful terrain and megafauna diplos, players are encouraged (although not required) to follow a winter theme when building here. Mount Loper is technically a localized colony, but the size of each estate means that large areas of the colony are primarily roads and nature with only the occasional structure.

Settlement Plan[ | ]

Mount Loper's settlement plan gives each player a ~750u-radius or 1.77-million-square-u private estate, with an additional ~250u radius overlapping with a nearby neighbor or neighbors. This overlap allows Mount Loper residents to connect their bases with roads, as the terrain can be difficult to navigate even by exocraft. Roads are especially beneficial during whiteout conditions, where drivers may only see a small distance in front of their exocraft.

How to Join[ | ]

Due to Mount Loper's settlement plan, which requires residents to build bases at specific coordinates, the colony is not currently open to the public. Interlopers may apply for residency here.

The colony is available in Normal Mode for all platforms.

After your application is accepted, you will receive a welcome message with planetary coordinates. Once you receive this message, follow the steps below:

  • Reach the system hosting the Diplo Winter Resort planet.
  • Stretch your base boundaries as needed to build your actual base at a desired location. (See "General Guidelines & Tips" Point 6 for boundary stretching explanation)
  • Enjoy life on this beautiful and unique frozen world!

General Guidelines & Tips[ | ]

  1. Each player must construct, at minimum, "main streets" connecting the bases on each side of their own base. Streets must follow the Mount Loper Road Style Guide (see below).
  2. Each player is encouraged to explore their own estate for caves, resource deposits, lakes, and more natural features.
  3. Each player is encouraged to develop their land to whatever extent they wish, whether it's building a massive castle or deeming your land a nature reserve and building nothing but a small visitor's center.
  4. Massive builds should, if possible, be built near the center of your land to minimize lag on neighbors.
  5. Share your discoveries and builds from your estate on the subreddit and/or Facebook group!
  6. To stretch your base boundaries beyond a 200u radius, simply place (almost) any object at the edge of the barrier. This will expand the area in which you can build. Pipes or flags are good low-material-cost choices. Colored lights are the only known object which does not work.
  7. For vertical boundary stretch (such as going up a sheer cliff), place a flag or pipe on top of a colored light attached to the wall.

Road Style Guide[ | ]

When constructing roads for the Mount Loper Colony, players are required to follow specific guidelines. This is mostly just so roads look consistent connecting between multiple bases, but also for functional purposes like blizzard lighting.

These roads are best traveled by Nomads and Roamers, although they will accommodate Colossi in most areas. Pilgrims have great difficulty with the inclined sections and are not recommended.

Mount Loper Road Style Guide Light Fissure 2 Light Fissures must be placed below the road so they do not interfere with traffic, but still light the path. The beam should be roughly in the center of the concrete piece above, but you do not need to worry about perfect alignment.
Mount Loper Road Style Guide Light Fissure 3 Red ("Red & White" color) light fissures are used to light the roads. Yellow ("Yellow & Blue" color) can be placed on each side of a cliff face which suitable exocraft can drive up.

Safety Features & Related Structures

The use of safety features when constructing roads is optional but encouraged.

Mount Loper Road Style Guide Dirt Road 1 Dirt roads can be constructed by burying Light Fissures beneath terrain using the Terrain Manipulator. Dirt roads save resources, but can be difficult to navigate, especially on difficult terrain or in areas with especially significant pop-in (light fissures might not load quickly enough, where a regular road probably would).
