New Ziki is a colony.

Summary[ | ]

New Ziki City is a colony of the Galactic Hub Project. It is located on planet Ziki in the Amatsu-Okmi system.

The expected HUB Tag for this system is HUB10-47.

New Ziki is the Galactic Hub's second "Hubtropolis", colonies featuring massive skyscrapers with room for multiple residents each. Unlike the first Hubtropolis, Hiya City, New Ziki is open to settlement without any charge or payment. However, construction must follow certain guidelines - see the "Construction Guidelines" section.

How to Join[ | ]

Construction is not permitted anywhere in the system.

If you upload an unapproved base, it will be overwritten, meaning no other visitors to the system will be able to see it unless you're online.

As a Resident[ | ]

Process[ | ]

New Ziki will open for settlement on September 1st.

New Ziki residents should not upload any bases. To live in New Ziki City, you claim an apartment within an architect's base - these are listed in the District List section below. Reach out to the listed Governor to begin the process of claiming an apartment!

Homes will be assigned either By Request, meaning you get to choose, or Assigned, meaning the mayor chooses where you will live. See the the District List lower on this page to check which process each district follows.

Construction Guidelines[ | ]

New Ziki residents should not upload any bases.

Residential homes are available throughout New Ziki City in the form of free apartments and other free units. Contact your District Mayor when you're ready to build, or contact 7101334 if you aren't sure who your District Mayor is.

Each district will have its own specific "Objects-per-Resident" limit. This stems from the fact that each district is a single base, and bases are limited to 3,000 parts. Thus, the architect must build the district, then divide whatever remains of the 3,000-part complexity budget among their residents. (The mayor may also withhold some additional portions of complexity budget for things like holiday or event decorations.)

As a Business[ | ]

Process[ | ]

The vast majority of businesses in New Ziki City will be expected to operate within a pop-up model, whereby you construct your shop base, but do not upload it to the servers. This way, your base will only show to players who are actually in your session. This limits crowding in the marketplace area, protects against too many bases being uploaded in the system, and reduces lag / rendering issues which would stem from the many base parts associated with multiple businesses. Plus, when a customer is going shopping in-game, they really only need to see the shops they can currently purchase from.

Most locations for pop-up businesses are designated within the Commerce District by Mayor 7101334, The Huburban District by Mayor ItalicInterloper, and the Residential District by Mayor CoolioColophon. Other mayors may also be able to accommodate pop-up shops. Reach out to a mayor to begin the approval process.

As soon as you begin construction, you should place a Cuboid or other structure over your base computer, so you do not accidentally upload the base out of habit. If you do accidentally upload your base, there is a way to fix the problem. As each player can only have 1 base per planet, you can upload another base on the planet far from the city, wait a short period of time, then delete that newly-uploaded base. This should render your original base back to an un-uploaded state, although this method has not yet been tested.

In other cases, District Mayors may have properties available for businesses to purchase and permanently occupy as a storefront. At this time, such arrangements are uncommon in New Ziki City.

Construction Guidelines[ | ]

Businesses in New Ziki City operate on a pop-up model, meaning your business should only be visible while you're actually online.

Follow the steps below to set up your business in New Ziki City:

  • Find an area with white canvas tents. These mark locations for pop-up shops. (Alternatively, find a location to build a "shop on wheels". Food trucks are the most common example, but you can use a similar setup for any type of business.)
  • Reach out to the District Mayor to get approval to construct your business. Make sure to include a screenshot or planetary coordinates for the location.
  • Build a base computer nearby. Do not upload this base computer at any point. Place a Cuboid or similar solid object over the base computer to make sure you do not upload it out of habit.
  • Decorate one of the white canvas tents with your shop's products. (Or construct your food/etc truck.)

That's it! Now, any time you're online and in the same session as someone, they will see your business. If you're not online, they will see an empty tent, because you didn't upload your base. This saves on overall complexity for the city and allows more businesses to operate without issues.

The only potential issue with this method is if you're online at the same time as someone else using the same tent as you. In that case, your builds will overlap until one of you leaves the session. Although this presents a possible issue, it at least shouldn't be too likely or very common.

Businesses may also construct food trucks or other shops-on-wheels in the same pop-up fashion.

As a District Mayor / Architect[ | ]

Process[ | ]

If you are interested in constructing your own District in New Ziki City, please submit 2 or 3 examples of bases you've built in the past to 7101334. These bases should demonstrate a good sense of spatial organization and a comfortability working with a variety of building parts.

If you are approved to begin construction of your district, you should work with the Governor of New Ziki City to select the best location. Then, you'll want to coordinate with other nearby District Mayors, to avoid overlapping their district or building in areas they already had plans for. Once you've cleared things with all of these parties, you can begin construction. It's up to you whether you wish to open the whole district at one time, or allow residents to move in while the district is still under construction.

Any profits collected from HubCoin business arrangements - property sales, business rental fees, etc - may be retained by the District Mayor. All districts require a minimum of 20 free residential apartments. District Mayors are encouraged, although not required, to support pop-up businesses such as vendor tents or food-truck-style shops-on-wheels within their district.

Construction Guidelines[ | ]

New Ziki is composed of multiple districts. Construction of districts is reserved for builders who can demonstrate an above-average level of architectural skill. Contact 7101334 if you would like to construct a new district.

  • Each district must be capable of housing at least 20 residents.
  • Each residential home should be labeled with a letter, and each residential unit should be labeled with a number. This can be used to give addresses - for example, "COMMERCE-A2" or "DOWNTOWN-G24".
  • Each district must have a teleporter line connecting to the Teleporter Terminus in the Downtown District. (For this reason, no base computers should be placed more than 1,000u away from the Downtown District.)

Be very careful not to overlap any parts of your base with an existing District. Overlapping parts may cause one or both bases (usually the newer base) to become invisible to visitors.

How to Start Other Construction Projects[ | ]

"Street builds" - graffiti, statues, memorials, small gardens, or any other small decorative builds meant to add to the city atmosphere - are encouraged, unless your District Mayor is dealing with complexity issues.

For any other types of construction, please contact your District Mayor or 7101334 first.

District List[ | ]

Active Districts[ | ]

Do not upload a base in any of these districts! Residential homes should be part of the District Mayor's base. Businesses can construct bases, but should not upload them - see the Businesses section for more info.

  • Capacity refers to the number of residents who can inhabit a single district. This includes paid properties, but all districts must have at least 20 free properties.
  • Objects-per-Resident refers to the number of objects reach resident can place inside of their home. This is limited for residents due to the 3,000-part limit on each district.
  • Settlement Process refers to how your placement in the district is decided. If "Assigned," the District Mayor will tell you which home to take. If "By Request," the District Mayor will take requests for specific homes, and grant them on a first-come-first-serve basis.
