Portal Terminal is a technical device.

Since Atlas Rises each Portal has a terminal (or Dial Device) in the form of a large cylinder. Similar to a telephone dial or touch pad (although much larger), the terminal is used to specify which other Portal to connect to when opening a wormhole to another location.
When inactive, the terminal is hidden inside the base of a portal. The cylinder automatically leaves the base and divides into 2 halves when you approach it, allowing access to the dial disk on the bottom half. Near the edge of the dial disk, 16 symbols (or Glyphs) are arranged in a circle.
