Game description[]

Local mineral extract, typically found in large deposits or extracted from common materials after inspection with an Analysis Visor.

Typically found on planets with a desert environment.

Pyrite can be refined using a Refiner with the following ingredients:

  • SUBSTANCE.ASTEROID.2.png Gold x1  →  SUBSTANCE.BIOME.DUSTY.png Pyrite x1  ("Metal Restructuring", 0.24 sec./unit output)
  • SUBSTANCE.ASTEROID.2.png Gold x1  +  SUBSTANCE.AIR.1.png Oxygen x1  →  SUBSTANCE.BIOME.DUSTY.png Pyrite x2  ("Mineral Alchemy", 0.36 sec./unit output)

  • Pyrite (FeS2, name derived from the Greek word pyrites, meaning "of fire") is an iron-sulfide, commonly mistaken for gold and thus nicknamed 'fool's gold'. In real life, Pyrite's closest use as fuel was previously a source of ignition in early firearms during the 16th-17th century but is also now commonly more used as a cathode material in Energizer's lithium batteries.
