R. Octourtera is a creature.

Summary[]

R. Octourtera is a creature in the No Man's Sky universe.

It is a member of the Rhopalocera genus. This particular species of butterfly is a member of the rare subgenus category Seraph Butterfly, exhibiting the characteristic ethereal six wings.

This creature is nicknamed "Tithonus", after a character from Greek myth. The god Eos begged Zeus to make his lover, Tithonus, immortal. Zeus in his jealousy granted what was asked, immortal life, but not immortal youth. So Tithonus continued to age and though alive, withered away in mind and body, babbling incessantly. Eventually, Tithonus was transformed into a cicada (or cricket or grasshopper based on the myth's variant), living an eternal chirping existence among the bugs.

Appearance[]

This Seraph is adorned with an overall green color, spotted patterning on its body and head, and the Seraph's usual eyespots on each of its six wings.

Tithonus (R. Octourtera) is at home above the toxic floods plain of planet Eriu XVIII. Carried by the wind as much as their wings, these small insects live a scattered and chaotic existence. A plague upon stranded adventurers, as they feast upon di-hydrogen crystals. Their highly reactive saliva dissolves the crystals without the need to chew.
