Ulvertse - Gal Storm

Storms are a type of game event.

Summary[]

Storms are planetary weather phenomenon that will drain the Hazard Protection, some planets will have extreme storms that will consume more of the Hazard Protection.

Storms usually last about 5 minutes. In those 5 minutes you must seek shelter as soon as possible if you do not have Sodium, Sodium Nitrate or Ion Battery in your inventory.

Storm Types[]

All storm types are listed below:

  • Blizzard
  • Firestorm
  • Radioactive Supercell
  • Toxic Rainstorm

Storm Events[]

These events can occur during storms:

  • Extreme Wind Event (Tornadoes)
  • Electrical Disturbance (Lightning)

Storm Benefits[]

Certain storm types can provide benefits to travellers brave enough to venture out during one.

  • Blizzard - Increased Mining Beam heat dispersion
  • Firestorm - Increased Jetpack duration
  • Radioactive Supercell - Increased Terrain Manipulator yields
  • Toxic Rainstorm - Increased sprint duration

Avoiding Storms[]

To avoid storms, you must take shelter. You can hide in caves, your starship, or any structure. Generally, if there's a roof overhead, the storm will be avoided. Hiding in the Minotaur can also restore the Hazard Protection.

Storm Crystals[]

Storm Crystals are a valuable item that can be harvested on planets with extreme storms. During an extreme storm, Storm Crystals will appear as a white crystal with the underside hidden in the rock. To harvest a Storm Crystal, walk up to it and hold to add it to your exosuit inventory.

If no storm is active, storm crystals will exist as a non-harvestable rock. They can't be mined with a mining beam in this state. It can be destroyed with the Geology Cannon, however. Doing this will not harvest the crystal.

Gravitional Anomaly[]

A gravitational Anomaly is a form of storm, which occurs on a planetary scale, with a frequency comparable to any other type of storm, depending on the conditions of the world in question.

During the anomaly, the planet's gravity becomes much weaker, allowing for larger Jetpack jumps. This is accompanied by the occasional appearance of glowing purple orbs, rising from the ground and rising into the air before disappearing.

Unlike other types of storms, they do not pose any particular danger. However, returning to normal gravity at the end of the storm can be a potential risk if the player is in the air at the time and is unable to cushion the fall (jetpack and/or shield not sufficiently improved).

For a gravitational anomaly to occur on a given planet, the following conditions must be met:
