The TSS Hornet's Nest has been on six expeditions, all during its time with the Trailblazer Firm. The ship was critically damaged on four of those trips. The Hornet's Nest has had a rather abysmal record, which incited the purchase of more vessels to ensure the success of future Trailblazer Firm operations.

The TSS Hornet's Nest was included in the sale of what would be known as the TSS Trailblazer I, the firm's first freighter. The crew led by Commander Yidawuko was inexperienced and the ship was untested. On its first patrol accompanying its parent freighter, the two vessels were attacked by pirates which had detected special cargo onboard. The ships were rescued by a Trailblazer Firm starcraft. This prompted an offer by the Trailblazer I's captain of a discounted sale of both of these ships. Upon purchase, the company sent the Hornet's Nest on several expeditionary missions, with most ending in failure. This frustration prompted the demotion of Vessel Captian Yidawuko from Commander to Conscript. Since that reprimand, the ship has somewhat improved its success ratio.
