Hey I wanted to share something odd I recently discovered.
According to the wiki, Emergency Signal Scanners can only be obtained through three methods (Scrap Dealer purchase, Nexus mission reward, or Helios’ weekly gift). However, I’ve personally found them inside Abandoned Space Stations, which doesn’t seem to be mentioned anywhere. I play in Normal Mode, no mods that change gameplay mechanics (only visual/UI ones). I can’t upload images directly here, but I’ll describe what I saw instead:
1) In Euclid, I found an Emergency Signal Scanner while exploring an abandoned space station — the pickup happened right next to the teleporter side of the interior.
2) I later repeated this in Galaxy 181 – Yekathsebehn, again in a similar teleporter-side area, so it’s definitely not limited to one galaxy.
3) The drop rate feels extremely low — I’ve searched through many abandoned stations and only got it a couple of times total.
A few questions for others who might want to check this out:
a. Are the loot pools inside abandoned stations fixed per station seed, or randomized each visit?
b. Can anyone else reproduce this in other galaxies or platforms?
If confirmed, maybe this could be added to the wiki as a “very rare possible drop” under the Emergency Signal Scanner page. It’d be great to know if anyone else has ever seen this happen — I’m genuinely curious whether it’s a hidden mechanic, a rare drop table entry, or just a freak occurrence.
