Hi, the information here is inaccurate. In No Man's Sky, the planets are fixed, do not rotate or orbit the star, moons do not orbit their planets. Instead all the planets are in the middle, frozen, and the star moves around them. I will edit this in a few days if I don't see any responses. Skybox Rotation[]
Hello, I happened to notice on this page under Bugs it says "When observing the night sky on a planet, distant stars appear to move as if the planet rotates around its axis, while all the planets in game in fact do not have a rotation axis." This is not a bug. The skybox contains the system star as well as a starfield. The skybox rotates around the planets, making it appear from the surface as though the planets have a rotation. -Kicooi 12/25/21
rotation[]
If the planets are not rotating, that means that their stellar and sidereal days (the two are almost the same) are non existant or infinite; and the solar day will be finite (30min real time). I was also thinking that if I had to design this system, I would make the planets fix and the star orbit around them. I see someone already reached this conclusion. Of course, from the player's perspective, it's pretty much the same. That's why geocentric view of the world worked for so long in antic times. Hoemaco
