Confusion between Arch-Backed Theroma and Procavya[]
The more creatures of these two genera I find, the more I'm convinced there is a lot of player confusion when trying to distinguish Theroma from Procavya. Take a moment to browse the listings in the Fauna Hall of Fame and you'll see quite a few identical-looking entries in both. Heck, I'm certain that entries 1-6 for the smallest "Theroma" are all just arch-backed Procavya just from their beaver-tails alone, not to mention their more bent legs.
I'm not yet going to go so far as to say there's no such thing as an arch-backed Theroma, but I am convinced Procavya have a second arch-backed body type in addition to the one body type listed. This is from finding so many identical body parts on the two which normal flat-backed Theroma do not share, probably the most common of which are the beaver tails and bird heads. For now, I'm leaning towards all arch-backs actually being Procavya, due to the shared heads, tails and body decorations; if someone can post screenshots of an arch-back with a hippo or rhino head, then I'll be swayed towards both genera having arch-backed variants.
A huge difference between the two genera which I haven't seen listed anywhere before is how each looks in the Discoveries tab screen. Theroma always stand with their back feet directly on the center circle and are shrunken in size while Procavya stand centered over the same center circle and are displayed much larger. All arch-backs that I've discovered stand centered over the circle and are displayed large, just like Procavya, in addition to sharing the same body parts. If someone does find the afore mentioned hippo-headed arch-back, please share a screenshot of how it looks on the Discoveries tab; if it stands with its front feet directly on the center of the display circle, it'll be definitive proof that both genera have arch-backed variants.
I would be very curious to hear what any other interested creature hunters out there think about this, especially any of the long-time players who might have more insight to share on this.Ertosiangel (talk) 01:19, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- I'm now thinking that both genera have arch-backed variants, as if you look closely on this page's gallery, the two arch-backed Theroma have the same overall shape as arch-backed Procavya but don't share any of the same body parts. The first one, labeled as having the exotic head and toes, has body decorations matching those of flat-backed Theroma and feet that I've not discovered amongst Procavya. The second one at the end of the gallery has the same exotic feet and toes; note that it's exotic head is shared by most genera. So I think that both arch-backed pics in this page's gallery are accurate Theroma pics. I'll need to find one of these arch-backed Theroma creatures in person to verify how they look in the Discoveries tab. Ertosiangel (talk) 10:16, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
