The Abyss is a part of the lore.

Summary[ | ]

The Abyss is a mysterious and enigmatic entity, the nature of which is very unclear at the moment. This entity is often considered an antagonist of the Atlas, and its history seems to be linked to the Korvax to their homeworld: Korvax Prime. Living Ships are believed to be the vessels created or associated with the Abyss, and infested biomes also appear to be related to the Abyss.

In the imagination of No Man's Sky players, the Abyss is sometimes associated with the color blue (as opposed to the red of the Atlas), but it is possible, given the appearance of worlds with Corrupted Sentinels, and certain substances such as Atlantideum, that its color is actually purple.

Designation[ | ]

Some newspapers mention the Void, Atlantid or The Void Mother, these names could potentially refer to the Abyss. The very nature of this entity being very vague, it is difficult to draw certainties from it.

The following explanations should be taken with caution, as the understanding of these concepts is limited. Some conclusions are borderline speculative.

  • The terms Abyss and Void could mean the same thing, it seems to refer to a "place" where the echoes disconnected from any physical body are found. This is certainly where the disconnected Korvax entities end up, and potentially the place where Artemis was trapped. The Void could be the same as the Glass World, but this remains very uncertain.
  • The terms Atlantis and Void Mother seem to refer to the same thing. There are indications that the Void Mother is none other than the home planet of the Korvax: Korvax Prime, but this should be considered with caution. The very spirit of Korvax Prime would have been disconnected when it was destroyed by the First Spawn, and due to its "vast" nature than a simple organic or robotic entity, would have become the Void Mother.
