The Mnemosyne Initiative (pronounced NEH-MOE-ZEEN) is a company based out of the Sea of Naanissa, located within the Gamma Quadrant of the Hesperius Dimension.

It is a non-profit organization dedicated to discovery. The company provides xenobiological analysis, xenobotanical cultivation, geological data examination and galactic cartography/surveying services.

Our mission is to discover, analyze, record, and preserve data of all kinds. To archive and analyze our findings to better the information about the wonderful worlds within No Man's Sky.

Background

The company was founded June of 2022 to formalize the two systems used for their records:

• The Autumn Index (AI), used to categorize Xenobiological lifeforms
• The Genesis Galactic Categorization Protocol (GGCP), used to categorize planets and systems

The systems began development in early 2020 and were fully ratified in July of 2022. These systems are intended to be simple, concise and easily learned, making them a more universal recording method. By formalizing these methods with the backing of a registered organization, the company believes that they can create a better record for all, allowing for knowledge to be more easily distributed and recorded anywhere, anytime by anyone.

Guidelines

The guidelines are fairly straightforward:

1. Behave appropriately. No NSFW, political, discriminatory, or derogatory content is permitted
2. When naming anything, follow the TAI and GGCP correctly as laid out
3. However you name your freighter, please prefix it with the label MXL

Structure

The Company has a very loose structure, described as follows:

• CEO - Founder and owner of the Company
• Department Head - Chief Scientist and representative of one of the following departments:
  • Xenobiology
  • Xenobotany
  • Geology
  • Cartography
• CSO - Chief Science Office; runs the operations of a Research Team
• Scientist - Member of the Company focused on research related to the field given to their Research Team
• Intern - New member of the Company, working to see if this is the right fit for them
