The Nexus is a mission board inside the Space Anomaly.
Summary[ | ]
The Nexus is the multiplayer mission board onboard the Space Anomaly, and functions as a meeting point for Travellers. It is the location where players sharing the same multiplayer instance in the Space Anomaly (up to 8 on consoles, 32 on PC[1]) can initialize or join multiplayer missions (up to a group of four players per mission).
Missions[ | ]
Missions can be completed to get specific rewards (both products and Units/Nanites/Quicksilver).
When you search the nexus, four missions are usually displayed in the list. One or two of them may change to a special state. From Friday night to Monday morning, more special missions are added, so up to five can be displayed.
Encrypted Missions[ | ]
Can only be received when a purple question mark is displayed in hologram on the left side of the nexus. The occurrence conditions are unknown, but they appear infrequently. The title and description in the list are garbled, so the content is unknown until the mission begins. The reward is only slightly better than the normal one.
Quicksilver Missions[ | ]
A mission that is given once a day and rewards 400 Quicksilver . Can be received when a yellow "Quicksilver" mark is displayed in hologram on the right side of the nexus (→ Community Research). You will automatically receive one mission to accept every day in real time. You can reserve up to three unused missions.
The maximum number of missions that can be received in a day is "1 for the day + up to 3 reserved", for a maximum of 4 times.. The number of reserved missions is counted separately for each save data, even within the same account. Data that was not played and saved will not increase. Quicksilver can be obtained. The mission content is the same as usual.
Quicksilver Missions[ | ]
A mission that is held once a weekend, with a reward of 1,800 Quicksilver. When it is held, a hologram of the blue-green hexagon mark will be displayed above the Nexus. There are three main features. You can get a large amount of Quicksilver. There are fixed opportunities to do it and all players will go to the same destination and have the same content.
The mission content itself is the same as usual, but the quota for the completion conditions is often a little higher. Depending on the mission, you may have to stay for a short time. Once you accept and complete the quest, or the event period has ended, it will disappear from the list. You can only complete an event and receive mercury once per save data. You can take it again if it's the next event.
In the Nintendo Switch version, the specifications have been changed to be for solo play only, and the number of goals has been reduced. Only the number of goals has been reduced, the difficulty has not changed.
General Notes[ | ]
Nexus missions are multiplayer-based, and there are rules that may be a little confusing for players who have mainly played solo.
Notices are updated every 10 minutes. Except for weekend missions, notices are updated every hour at 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 minutes. If there are missions you don't like, try returning later.
The number of crew members may be displayed at the bottom of each mission on the Nexus mission screen. This indicates how many players are participating or waiting, up to 4 people. When you join a mission where someone is waiting, you will automatically be grouped with that crew member. The mission will start when all mission participants are ready to start, not waiting. You can switch this state by checking the Nexus.
If you want to play solo, you can accept the mission alone, immediately complete the start preparation, and leave as is (with only you as the participant). All Nexus Missions can be completed by one person. However, you can play and complete the missions by yourself even if multiplayer is disabled or you are not connected online.
You cannot accept "Weekend Missions" unless you are connected to the Online Discovery Service during the event period of that week. However, even if you are connected online, you may be temporarily unable to connect to the Online Discovery Service. In that case, restart the game at a different time and reconnect online.
Very rarely, the message "Mission signal scrambled // Aborting..." will be displayed large in the center of the screen, and the mission will be automatically canceled. The reason is unknown, but it also occurs in the Switch version. This may happen rarely when the mission you selected disappears from the list when the mission content or reward is updated, or when another player starts a mission first, or when the timing of the update overlaps with your own communication timing.
Due to the nature of automatic generation, it was roughly generated and posted, but when you looked closely at nearby star systems, etc., there was no suitable mission location, so this may happen.
If a member does not board the Starship and leave the Space Anomaly within a minutes and a half after the start of the mission, the member will be considered to have abandoned the mission (and will not receive any rewards). At one point in the early days of v2, it was possible for players to freeload on other players' missions and not move from the Space Annomaly. This mechanism was later added as a measure against abandoning and bots.
Normally, there is no need to panic. One and a half minutes is a long time to just get on and leave. Unless you joined a crew but forgot and got absorbed in shopping, this measure will not apply to you.
If the On-Foot Combat and Space Combat settings in the difficulty setting are set to "None", some missions involving combat related to the items set to "None" will not appear.
Progress and position are not saved during a Nexus mission Since a Nexus mission is a multi-player mission, game progress cannot be saved. Saving during the mission itself is possible, but the mission will be lost when loading. Saving during the mission does not update the position. The location will remain the same as the last save, and the autosave will probably remain at the Space Anomaly's departure and arrival point.
It is important to always report before pausing the game. If the game is unstable, it is a good idea to restart the game once before accepting the mission.
While accepting a nexus mission, difficulty settings will be unavailable. Jt will become available again once you have completed or canceled the current mission. For all missions other than weekend missions, it will be the star system where the leader player was currently located. However, if there is no suitable mission site in that star system, it will be another star system nearby.
In either case, after starting the mission, when you board a Starship and leave the Space Anomaly (unless the execution site remains the "star system you were currently in"), you will automatically warp to the star system where the mission is located. Note that this warp does not consume any of the remaining Hyperdrive capacity.
For weekend missions, the RGB star system is often the designated destination. However, you can warp to the RGB star system even if you do not have the corresponding technology.
If the designated environment is a harsh environment or if the mission involves combat, you may die during the mission. As a feature of this game, death in solo play does not result in a "mission failure". In mode other than "Permadeath", after death, the mission will be restarted from the restart point corresponding to the place where you died, just like in normal play, with the progress of the mission intact (some may be different, not verified). In Hunting Dangerous Pirates, there is a disadvantage that the difficulty level increases after restarting due to the restart point.
This feature makes it possible to clear missions that involve combat by brute force, but be careful as technology may be damaged or items may be lost depending on the difficulty setting.
Cooperation allows for efficient progress, but progress and completion judgments may be skipped due to synchronization errors. Especially in parts where it is necessary for one person to proceed, it is best to have one representative proceed. Even if you are careful, there may be cases where synchronization is lost due to a malfunction and you cannot proceed. In that case, you can leave the group and theevaluation will be re-evaluated and you will be able to proceed.
After completion/end[ | ]
Each participant receives rewards. Progress during the mission is treated as one for all participants. However, the completion of the mission and rewards are treated separately for each participant. Each person goes to the Nexus and reports and receives their rewards. Completion reports should be made after a marker appears on the Nexus Even if you complete all the mission content and return to the Space Anomaly, it may not be considered officially completed at that point. This can happen due to the lifting of the Sentinel alert level or the convenience of event/marker processing.
If you think you have completed the mission, but for some reason the marker for reward acquisition is not displayed on the Nexus, or if you think the Nexus screen is a report button, but it is a mission cancel button, try standing in the Space Anomaly without doing anything for about 10 seconds. If the marker still does not appear, check the "Log".
In "Weekend Missions", if there are a large number of Communications Station at the specified destination, it may take several minutes for the logs to finish. You can choose your destination after leaving the Space Anomaly on the screen just before reporting.
You can change the Space Anomaly exit settings when reporting a mission. Use the "Change Exit Settings" button at the bottom right of the screen to switch between "Return to Home System" and "Stay in Mission System" ("System" here means "Star System").
- Return to Home System - Default state. When you leave the Space Anomaly, a warp occurs automatically, and you exit to the star system you were in before accepting the mission. You can return to your original star system. However, if you pause the game in the anomaly before exiting, the information about where you were originally will be deleted from the game, and automatic warp will not occur (the same result as "Stay in Mission System").
- Stay in Mission System - No automatic warp will occur when you exit. When you leave the Space Anomaly, you will exit to the star system where the Nexus mission was just taking place.
In rare cases, the number of participants may appear to have increased on the report screen.. On the screen just before reporting, you may be displayed as if you are in the same group as unknown players. For example, when you accept a mission alone, complete it alone, and return to report alone. When you access the Nexus, for some reason, someone you don't know (who is neither a group member nor a friend) may be displayed as a crew member for the same mission.
This can also occur when you report after successfully forming a group with friends and accepting a mission (confirmed when accepting a weekend mission). The cause is unknown, but it is probably because a player who happened to be doing the same mission at that moment happened to be in the Space Anomaly, and the display of yourself and others is treated as the same, and it is displayed like this on the screen. It is not a phenomenon that causes any actual harm.
When an unknown player is displayed on the report screen, after reporting, you look around and confirm that the same player with the name displayed on the report screen was also in the Space Anomaly. As an aside, as of v4.45, it is better to assume that minor glitches are common on the acceptance and reporting screens. The display on your order screen may be distorted, showing another player who is not in your group has accepted the mission and is preparing to begin.
The items required to complete the mission may be different on the order screen than they are during the actual mission (→ Collect X amounts of #XX).
The game will autosave when you complete the mission and receive your reward. You will not lose your progress even if the game crashes after clearing it. The location will be in front of the Nexus.
Also, a Space Resue midsion will not occur when warping to the star system where the mission is located immediately after starting a Nexus mission. It can occur as usual when warping to the original star system after reporting a Nexus mission or when leaving a Space Anomaly.
Mission Content[ | ]
Standards for the "Difficulty" reference notation below.
- ★ - A relatively easy mission that does not require participants to learn or improve in advance. As long as you have the means to move and the fuel to move, you can steadily approach the completion of the mission. Of course, it will be even easier if you have the materials and equipment.
- ★★ - A mission that is likely to be difficult for players who have not been exposed to elements from the mid-game onwards, such as weapons, Exocraft, Freighters, and technology. A type that requires a certain degree of improvement and adaptability.
- ★★★ - A mission that may seem difficult if you do not have knowledge or ingenuity. In other words, experience, even if you have high adaptability. You may have a hard time the first time you try it.
- ★★★★ - A mission that may force you to unexpectedly difficult situations depending on the content and the situation, even if you have high adaptability. A type that requires strong luck and cannot be careless.
Investigate a planet[ | ]
Difficulty level: ★★
A mission that returns to the basics of planetary exploration and walking activities. Added in v2.6 Desolation.. Land on the specified planet and analyze the specified number of undiscovered species (Minerals, flora, and fauna) (2 to 8 each. Probably about 30% of the minerals and plants on the planet, and about 50% of the living things) with the Analysis Visor. After that, use the Survey Device to discover Hotspots. Finally, use a Signal Booster to identify an Observatory, fly there and examine the terminal to complete the mission.
The marker pointing to the planet will show "unexplored planet", but discovered planets may also be selected as the stage. The target number count only progresses on the specified planet. Since v3.0 Origins, the requirements have increased and it has become a little more difficult.
The guidance in the bottom right of the screen first shows the count for a specific field (for example, only minerals), but you can analyze everything you see, regardless of that field. Although it is not displayed on the screen, the amount analyzed in other fields (for example, plants and creatures) is properly counted as achievement of that field.
Minerals and plants are often not enough on ordinary land. If there are rocks, cave, or oceans, search underwater as well. You're more likely to find different things if you move far away from the planet in your ship and change the area. You can count 4 to 6 types of plants by analyzing red plants that can collect Oxygen, yellow plants that can collect Sodium, and blue plants that temporarily strengthen your Jetpack, as well as Hazardous Flora.
As with Tame Wild Life, finding creature is the hard part. However, you can count with air and sea creatures, as you only need to encounter and analyze them. To identify hotspots, you need to find one of each type of gas, mineral, and electromagnetic object (for example, finding only three gases will not progress). The order of the three types does not matter.
Even if you have already investigated before being instructed to identify hotspots, it will not count (you will end up looking for one of each type). Don't get ahead of yourself, and start searching after the log is updated. If the stage is a planet that you have previously cleared, the species search will be automatically completed after landing, and you will immediately enter the hotspot search phase.
Rescue a stranded lifeform[ | ]
Difficulty: ★★
A mission that combines treasure hunting, travel, and combat. Rescue a lifeform that is unable to move due to a starship malfunction. Go to the specified location, search for the stranded person with "Target Sweep", and talk to them to begin the mission in earnest. Dig up containers buried on the planet and pick up replacement parts. Each time you get one, a Corrupted Sentinel Drone will appear, but you can ignore them. Analyze the parts you get from the item case. If you're lucky, you'll find a terminal that can be used to adjust the parts and a marker will light up. If you don't get a marker, dig it up separately and analyze it again.
Fly to the location of the terminal and get off the starship, and you'll have several battles with several Corrupted Sentinels. These Sentinels will appear even if you shut down the Sentinels with the Sentinel Pillar. After destroying them all, examine the terminal to complete the parts. Deliver them to the stranded person and complete the mission.
When searching for the "buried module," (you'll find one near the crash site, and then find others relatively close by), analyzing the parts may turn out to be no good. However, (previously, you had to dig in and analyze more than 10 places), but now you should be able to make progress with the analysis with around 5 or less.
Even if the "buried module" is too far away to be seen in the Analysis Mode of the Analysis Visor, you can get a rough idea of its direction with the TS mode. When you dig up the "buried module," Corrupted Sentinels will attack, but if you keep your distance, you can just throw them away. It's best to do this on planets with aggressive Sentinels.
You can also progress by landing and then taking off again immediately to attack with the starship's weapons, in the two or three battles with the Corrupted Sentinels near the terminal. It's best to do this on planets with aggressive Sentinels. It is a good idea to equip your spaceship with weapons such as a Positron Ejector, Cyclotron Ballista and Infra-Knife Accelerator to strengthen it to some extent.
The rescue target may not be the Traveller but one of the three races. The appearance may change when talking and reporting. In the mission description, the rescue target refers to the Traveller. Therefore, if the appearance of the three races is the appearance of the target when you arrive at the crash site, it seems to be a bug.
As of v4.71, this bug has a low occurrence rate of appearance change.
Excavate ancient bones[ | ]
Difficulty: ★
A mission to search for Ancient Boness with the Analysis Visor and remove them with the Terrain Manipulator. Collect a set number of bones, then scan to identify the location of the collaborator. Head to the marker and examine a terminal to complete the mission.
It used to be a test of luck where you had to keep going until you found a bone with a high rarity (price range, background color of the item icon), but in v2.6 Desolation it was changed to asking about the number of bones excavated instead of rarity. Even if the bones are too far away to be found in the Analysis Visor's "Analysis Mode," they can be detected in "Target Sweep Mode." Use your Exocraft to move from one location to another.
There is a bug where the marker disappears after detecting the location of the bones after a few tens of seconds. The marker just disappears, so there is no problem if you detect it again. There may be multiple bones clustered together in one location. Check carefully with the Analysis Visor and collect them all. The quota seems to be about 12 bones, so you will actually visit about 4 to 10 locations (it may be possible to only collect one at one location, so that's down to luck).
When scanning to head to the terminal, you may not find the target nearby and be asked to try again in a different location, or a Sentinel who senses the scan may rush over. The marker may not necessarily light up in one shot. Be sure to manage your stamina.
During a mission with multiple people, if multiple players report at the same time, the mission may not progress. In this case, you can proceed by turning off multiplayer, but you will leave the current group. If multiple people are taking on a mission, only one representative should report.
During this mission, your item case will be overwhelmed with a large amount of bones. You can sell them later, so it's profitable. If you want to make money, move them to a spaceship or exocraft temporarily. However, you cannot report unless you have at least one on hand. Leave one in your exosuit's item case, whatever it is.
Depending on the item, bones can be sold for a reasonable price even if they are low rarity, and the possibility of the destination being in a harsh environment is not that high, so they are suitable for making money in the early stages. If you get a reward that sells for a high price, it's twice as fun. It's also a good idea to exchange it for a relic that sells for a higher price in the huge archive.
Defeat X Biologial Horrors[ | ]
Difficulty level ★★★ to ★★★★ A mission to defeat Biological Horror whose charging hurts. Hunt a set number of monsters in the ruins. After heading to the Abandoned Building, attack the eggs to summon the horror and defeat them. There are two patterns: "Kill about 50 BH" in one building, and kill BH then check the terminal and move to the next building.
In the latter case, if you get carried away and destroy all the eggs, you will be in trouble when you move to the same building in the next round because you will not be able to summon monsters. It is common that all three are in the same place. Prioritize extermination of horros over obtaining Larval Cores.
Even if the eggs in the ruins are exhausted, the mission can still proceed. However, it will take time to search for the ruins again. In fact, if you are in this mission "at the stage where the count of monsters to kill has started," you can proceed by defeating monsters even if they are not in the designated place. If there are no eggs in the designated place, use an exocraft signal booster to go to another building.
The monsters are tough. Not only players who do not have sufficient shield module reinforcement, but even players who do have sufficient shield module reinforcement can be in danger if they hesitate. The opponent's stamina is low, so the key is to act before you are defeated.
In the case of one-sided bombardment. If you ride an exocraft, you will not be attacked, so you can safely deal with them from a distance with the exocraft Mining Beam. You can also ride and move away and shoot with the Blaze Javelin. However, in either case, if the weapon power is insufficient, it will be a somewhat slow-paced and tedious task.
If you have an enhanced Neutron Cannon, this will be the easiest mission. Just ride on top of the building, shoot when a monster appears, charge, shoot when it appears again, charge, shoot when it appears again, and repeat this process, and it will be over in no time. You don't need to aim because you can just shoot at the center of the monster spawning area. You will not be attacked and you will not be hit.
It is a bit troublesome if they are scattered, but the Neutron Cannon itself has good performance, so you can defeat them even if they come down and get close to you. When monsters appear, they tend to come towards you, not all of them, but several of them, so aim for the individual that is coming towards you.
If you are doing a short battle. If you strengthen your weapons and shields and deal with them quickly, the enemy's health is low, so you can kill them before they attack you and reduce the damage you take. If you are playing solo, use the Scatter Blaster for close-range fire. If you are playing multiplayer, use the Pulse Spitter for mid-range combat. It is easier to fight in third-person view because it has a wider field of view.
If you are not thinking about collecting eggs, you can wipe out six of them at once by hitting them with a fully strengthened Plasma Launcher from the roof of a building as they leave. However, it requires some timing and only works when they appear all at once from one place every time. If you miss three or more or they appear in separate places, it is not very effective. Be careful not to self-destruct or get other players involved. Even if you kill them using a Minotaur in AI pilot mode, the count will still proceed. If it is maintained, call it.
After the final round is achieved, if you only need one building you will be instructed to check their computer. If no instructions are given, you can just return to the Space Anomaly. Depending on the designated planet, there may be an environment with Sentinels and predators. Both of these can be troublesome as they will attack the player if they become hostile.
If a Sentinel's activity level is high, attacking a monster during battle will put it on alert, and if it attacks a monster again it will immediately switch to combat mode. As such, it is almost unavoidable that it will interrupt you in the middle of a battle with a monster.
During battle, you may find yourself in a dangerous situation where you are surrounded by monsters, Sentinels, and Carnivores. In that case, it is best to take refuge inside the ruins.
The missions offered at The Nexus are one of the following:
