Thermal Protection Upgrade (Cold) is an exosuit upgrade.

Thermal Protection Upgrades (Cold), contained within Thermal Protection Modules, are procedurally generated upgrades granting supplementary protection against low temperatures.

Upgrade properties[]

Thermal Protection Upgrades (Cold) function similarly to Hazard Protection but only protect the player from cold damage. Protection effectiveness depends on upgrade class (S-class upgrades offer the best protection).

The protection offered by Thermal Protection Upgrades (Cold), unlike that offered by the Exosuit's built-in thermal protection, does not recharge automatically while in locations without a significant cold hazard. Thermal Protection Upgrades (Cold) must be manually recharged as needed using Dioxite (6.25%/unit) or Ion Batteries (100.0%/unit).

Thermal Protection Upgrades (Cold) can only be obtained from opening Thermal Protection Modules offering protection against sub-zero temperatures.

Thermal Protection Upgrade (Cold) can be repaired using the following ingredients:

Thermal Protection Upgrade (Cold) can be dismantled after construction, returning the following ingredients:

Additional information[]

  • It is not clear as to what percentages of Cold Protection and Cold Shielding are given. All that has been observed is that the depletion rate is the same regardless of whether it is a little too cold or way too cold, and it is also variable amongst the pool of upgrades by an adjustable time-frame.
  • Upgrade bonuses trigger for Thermal Protection Upgrades (Cold) if they are adjacent to any of the following:

These only apply in actuality to basic upgrades with a visible percentage.
