X. Oakheymima is a creature.

Summary[ | ]

X. Oakheymima is a creature in the No Man's Sky universe.

It is a member of the Rangifae genus.

X. Oakheymima might not be the biggest known member of the Rangifae genus, but still, it towers high above the local flora and fauna of planet Aignmo Prime. During the research, it was discovered that these creatures, in fact, won't age at all meaning that there are either only fully grown specimens or their body grows from juvenile to adult in such a short time, that it is barely even noticeable.

Even though they appear to be prepared with defensive measures, like a high oxide concentration in their blood, there are no predators on Aignmo Prime. This lack of predators may be the greatest factor in why this species hasn't gone extinct.

Once a member of X. Oakheymima has been fed with its especially desired treats, it will happily transport Interlopers on its head to any desired destination on the planet's surface.

Appearance[ | ]

There are two known genders of X. Oakheymima, being referred to as Asymptotic and Unknown. Both genders share some body features which will be described in detail in the section Shared Body Features.

Shared Body Features[ | ]

X. Oakheymima is a long-neck dinosaur species which, in comparison to its neck, has a relatively short tail with a big bone hammer at the very end, while normal sauropoda have a very long whip-like tail. Both genders appear to have a wide chest area giving them a wide-legged stance which increases their balance while they bow down to eat and drink. Another shared feature is the form of the back and spine of the creature. Both genders have a flat back. Another noticeable feature is that the neck of both genders is attached to the lower part of the chest, which results in a lower center of mass, further improving the balance.

Both genders share the same coloring and color patterns.

The creatures are colored with a brown stripe running along the neck, spine, and the whole tail. The sides are covered in a dark grey running into light grey on the belly. The legs share this color gradient but are in addition covered in a tiger stripe pattern in the same brown color of the main back stripe. Both genders have bright green eyes.

Gender Dimorphism[ | ]

The first gender, also known as Asymptotic, has a smooth-skinned neck with a set of three horns on its head that are arched backward. The horns are arranged in a triangular scheme with an initial nose horn (the longest) and a second row containing two shorter horns.

The nickname "Alamosaurus" was given to this creature due to the great similarities between the Asymptotic gender and the Alamosaurus.

The second gender, also known as Unknown, has five rows of arched horn plates running down the front of its neck. These horn plates share the overall grey coloring but have cross struts integrated with a dark red color. Instead of the three big horns of the Asymptotic gender, the Unknown gender has only three short stumps. The Unknown gender, therefore, has a big ruffle colored in the lush grey of its belly with brown spots on it.

Highly adapted to the ferocious toxicity of its home, planet Aignmo Prime. Social animals, they show great care in tending to their young and their sick. Their blood is highly toxic to most predators, thanks to their oxide-rich diet.
